Delaney and Dustin met at the beginning of September in 2019 thanks to a little app called Tinder. Delaney was on a girls trip in Savannah at the end of August when Dustin came across her profile and saw "the most beautiful girl he'd ever seen" and swiped right. Delaney did not see Dustin's profile until she was back in Orlando, but after a quick glance at his photos and seeing that he was interested in something long-term, she also swiped right and the match was made. Delaney was the first one to message, but she actually almost said goodbye after realizing the distance between them, but she is so glad she didn't! The two got to meet in person sooner than they thought, thanks to Hurricane Dorian closing down both of their jobs at the time and Dustin taking a leap of faith and driving to Orlando. Not even a week later, Delaney made a trip up to Savannah to visit Dustin and on that same trip they officially became boyfriend and girlfriend.
In early December, Delaney and Dustin went on a mini vacation together to visit Pigeon Forge, TN and to go to Dollywood for the first time. In the weeks leading up to the trip, Delaney hoped and hoped that maybe Dustin would pop the question on the trip, but thought it very unlikely. Little did she know that a little birdie (her best friend and now Maid of Honor Candi) let Dustin know of her dreams and how he could make them come true. After a few weeks of thinking about it, Dustin decided it was the right time to ask Delaney to be his wife and got Candi's help to make sure he got the exact right ring. On the day of the proposal, Dustin's plans were almost foiled several times: first at the gate to the park when they almost wouldn't let them in, then again at the security check when they were told they would need to empty their pockets, and another time when he was sure Delaney had seen the ring box in his pocket while waiting in line for the train. Each time though, it all worked out and as the sun began to set and the two were strolling around the park to see the lights as they came on, they stopped in front of the biggest Christmas tree in the park for a few pictures. After finding a friendly couple to take pictures of them on Delaney's phone and a few quick shots, Dustin asked for one more picture and after a quick kiss, he got down on one knee and asked Delaney to marry him. He opened the ring box upside down, but Delaney didn't even mind and she gave an enthusiastic yes!
