We met because my friend and his cousin were getting married. I was the maid of honor and Brandon was the best man. After a few group gatherings we had our first date and the rest is history.
On memorial weekend, 2 years later, we were at our friend’s annual crawfish boil. “First date for the last time” by Todd Fritsch started playing and Brandon asked me to dance. Near the end of the song he got down on one knee and I said “YES!” The next day Brandon was telling his family how he proposed. He said that he was nervous and wasn’t sure if the party was the right time or place to propose so he started talking to his Grandpa in heaven and asked him what he thought. Brandon got his answer when his cousin, who had no idea of Brandon’s plan to propose that night, walked up to him and told him “Now is as good a time as any”. I was crying by the end of his story, as was everyone else. Grandpa Srubar was the head of the family and to have him be apart of our proposal, even though he was no longer with us, was so special.
