On October 17, 2017 I found myself in Nashville, for the first time in my life. I was in Nashville with an invite to a wedding from the bride’s brother. Looking back now I would have begged the bride and her parents for an invite as it has changed my life for the better. I noticed Daly the previous night at the Rehearsal Dinner, but she was getting ready to toast the bride and groom to be. However, this night was my time to make an impression, so I brought over a glass of wine and asked her to dance. I am not a good dancer, my dad can attest, but we spun around and had a ball for the next few hours going from the dancefloor to the bar to laughing with friends. At this point the reception was starting to close and Daly told me that she could not go to the afterparty with us because she was in a wedding the next day. It took me the 30-minute drive back to Nashville to convince her to stay out for one more drink. The next day I realized I lost her number from the night before and texted the bride on her honeymoon, “Hey, I really liked Dailey, could I please get her number?” Looking back at the same text, wow I am surprised I got her number misspelling her name so badly. For the next 3 weeks we spoke daily because we lived 5.5 hours away from each other. That year, I was intending to stay with one of my groomsmen for Thanksgiving, but then Daly invited me to come to Thanksgiving with her family. I dreaded making the same drive back down but have come to realize that the moment I saw Daly again over Thanksgiving that she was worth the drive and so much more. That Thanksgiving trip was when I realized she was the easiest person to talk to and I would do anything to get to know her better. The past three and a half years with Daly have been some of the most memorable in my life and I could not imagine them with anyone else. I can not wait to see her walk down the aisle this November and be able to dance not as strangers at the reception but as husband and wife.
On September 13, 2020 Connor asked me to marry him at Arrington Vineyards. Him and his sister, Traci, planned a beautiful “early birthday” picnic for me and I invited a few of my friends. He knew I would want the moment captured forever and hired a photographer posed as a social media photographer for the vineyard. I’ve never been more surprised in my life. After the proposal, we went to my parents’ house (my idea or so I thought) to toast and get inside because the rain was heading our way. We pull up and walk in and I couldn’t believe it—so many family and friends were there to greet us and celebrate us! It was a wonderful day.
