We met during Brennan's sophomore and Gabbie's freshman year of college in a Chemistry 105 class. We hit it off and I (Gabbie) may have pretended that I was changing my major so that Brennan would walk me to the physics department. What can I say, he's really cute. We were friends for a while, but we got to spend more time together on a trip to Mingo County. One night we stayed up to talk by the fire and look up at the stars. And the rest is history.
I (Brennan) had been planning to propose on our trip for months. I wanted the proposal to be related to our love of travel and national parks, so I knew our planned trip to Hawaii was the perfect place to pop the question. I spent months designing the ring and picking out the perfect beach to propose on at sunset. I wanted to spend the whole week celebrating our engagement, so during our first night in Hawaii, we started driving to the beach that I had picked out. After 16 hours of travel time, the 30 minute drive to the beach I had picked out was too much for Gabbie. We made a slight change of plans, pulled over in a state park, and ended up still driving another 25 minutes through a lava field to get to the water. After parking, a ranger told us that the park closed in 5 minutes and if we didn't make it to the entrance before he did, we'd be locked in overnight. This wasn't exactly what I had in mind. But I couldn't wait any longer, so I asked her to marry me, she said yes, and we ran to the car and raced the ranger back to the exit. (It wasn't want he had planned, but it was perfect! - Gabbie) We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter of our lives with you! See you in the Smokies!
