Matt and I met at a New Years Eve Party at his friend Ollie’s house. If it wasn’t for a very convincing sister, I would have never met that cute boy in the red flannel jacket that night or would I have gone to that party. After meeting that night, we hung out almost every day before I returned back to college. We spent a lot of time talking over the phone until I returned home from College in April which is when we started dating.
Matt had planned our official first date for us to go to the Wild game. Although it was not the first date many people expect because there was not very much communication between the two of us that night. It sure must have left an impression on Matt since he continued to pursue things after I barley talked to him at the Wild game.
After almost four years of dating and a lot of long distance between the two of us due to college and a deployment the day finally came where Matt asked me to marry him. Matt had a whole day planned for the two of us and actually pulled off a surprise that I did not see coming. Although I knew the proposal was coming, I did not know how or when. Right before walking out of the door to go get our nails done he popped down on one knee and asked the big question. After that we celebrated by getting dinner and re-creating our first date by going to the Wild game. The next day we continued our celebrations with a surprise engagement party that Matt had put on with some of our friends and family.
