La Feria de Abril (Seville Fair) is not just THE event of the year in Andalusia but it's a big deal for the entire country of Spain. The streets are lined with casetas, lights, women in flamenco dresses, carnival games, food, rides, and plenty of people dancing sevilliana. Come to this fair to experience the epitome of Spanish culture that only occurs once a year.
The Seville Cathedral is a World UNESCO site and the world's largest gothic church in the world and 3rd largest church in the world. This church houses the remains of Christopher Columbus and also features the world famous La Giralda bell tower. This is a must-see, iconic place when visiting Seville.
Any Game of Thrones fan will recognize this as being Dorne, the home of the Martells and the Sand Snakes. This World UNESCO site is better known as the Royal Palace. The royal palace dates back to 913 when the region was controlled by the Moors, but has since been updated several times. The heavy Moorish style of this palace is stunning and iconic. Definitely don't miss out on this place.
The Plaza de España is a plaza in the Parque de María Luisa, in Seville, Spain, built in 1928 for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929. It is a landmark example of the Regionalism Architecture, mixing elements of the Baroque Revival, Renaissance Revival and Moorish Revival styles of Spanish architecture. When you google "Seville", you will encounter a photo of this beautiful plaza. As a matter of fact, this is where we took the photo that you see on the home page of our wedding page :).
Easy Day Trip! Take a short trip on the train from Seville to Cordoba and experience this beautiful city of free tapas and vibrant atmosphere. The Mosque-Cathedral of Cordoba is probably one of my favorite architectural sites that I've ever experienced. It's an easy city to navigate and the free tapas that you get when you purchase a beer or wine is a wonderful perk.
Another easy day trip! This is another quick train ride from Seville to Granada where you can enjoy the famous Alhambra. Alhambra is a massive palace and fortress that housed several Moorish Monarchs of Granada's past. Be sure to buy tickets and tours before hand and be sure to wear your walking shoes.
