We’re getting married!

Brandon and Chris met “in the rooms.” They met while both were just beginning their spiritual journey in recovery. They were able to persevere through ups and downs, each of which helped their love grow deeper and stronger. The gift of recovery not only brought Brandon and Chris together but also allowed them to show up for each other in many significant ways. Brandon cheered for Chris as he completed his graduate degree in Social Work. Brandon then supported Chris when he passed his LSW exam in 2018 and eventually as he passed his LISW exam in 2023. Chris was able to return the favor as Brandon finished his undergraduate degree in business, during 2021. Both experienced loss and the unwavering support of a partner as Brandon’s grandfather passed in 2021 and Chris’ grandmother in 2022. Each offered steady support through difficult times. In the early days, Chris and Brandon realized how much they loved trying new foods and exploring nature. Because of the pandemic, they often stayed-in binge watching Netflix and DoorDashing, while also mixing in outings to the Metro Parks. Chris has always loved cats, which eventually rubbed off on Brandon who works from home and is kept company by their two cats Izzy and Steve. They also discovered how each prioritized family. They fell in love with the other’s family while spending most weekends visiting with their parents, Linda and Steve. Chris is grateful to find a partner as patient and understanding as Brandon. On the other hand, Chris’ goofy free spirited personality has helped Brandon blossom into a social butterfly. As Chris and Brandon look forward to their future, they are excited for expanding their own family, hopefully through adoption. They hope to expand their travels abroad, starting with their honeymoon to Greece. They are both filled with love and gratitude as they think of their past, present, and future together. Because this love story is born from the gift of recovery, Brandon and Chris want to remind all guests this will be a “dry wedding.” Alcohol will neither be consumed nor served during the celebration.
