Coming up seven years ago, Joseph and I met on one of the dating apps - we know, we know. Even though we were only chatting for a few days, there was something about Joseph's genuine approach that made me take the risk to open my heart up - and I couldn't be more happy that I did. We dated long-distance for one year alternating weekends driving between the Atlanta and Birmingham areas. After our one year and many sad goodbyes until the next weekend, we made the decision to move in together in the Birmingham area.
Throughout our relationship we've leaned on each other through all life has brought our way. We both opened ourselves up emotionally and quickly knew that there was nobody else we wanted to spend the rest of our lives with. Joseph showed extreme patience over the years as I adjusted to being in my first (and only!) relationship. I then practiced patience waiting five years for him to ask me to be his wife!
Every year we would plan 1-2 trips to celebrate life moments. We decided to plan a trip to Alaska to celebrate my 30th birthday. I have several family members that live in Alaska that we'd talked about visiting for years! Going for my 30th birthday to see my Aunt Janet and Uncle Richard would be a perfect trip to me - celebrating with family and showing Joseph all of the beautiful spots in Alaska! I was excited to take Joseph to Portage Glacier as I've visited this spot with several family members each time I'd visited. After a few activities that day we went to the Portage Glacier and poor Joseph thought he was going to have to propose in a parking lot! After walking further into the rocky shore of the glacier I turned and saw Joseph on one knee - I said YES multiple times before he could even finish his proposal (I told you he was patient!)
We’re ready to celebrate with all of our closest family and friends on March 28, 2026 as we embark on the next phase of our life together as The Catoe's! <3
