Our Story
How We Met ♥️
May 2018
One day, Stephanie was waitressing at a Portuguese restaurant in Naugatuck when Carlos’s parents, Irena and Carlos, walked in with another couple and their two kids. Stephanie hit it off with the group of 6 and thought to herself what nice people they were, however, unsure whether or not she would see them again. When Carlos and Irena returned home, they said to their son,”You should’ve come to dinner, we met the nicest Portuguese girl!” Carlos shook it off and didn’t think anything of it. Several weeks later, Carlos took a chance and started chatting with Stephanie on social media, not knowing his parents had already met her weeks prior. Friendly chat progressed into their first date. Carlos showed his parents a photo of Stephanie and said, “Guys, look at the girl I’m talking to.” They replied, “That’s HER! She’s the one we were telling you about!”

After 7 years of schooling, Stephanie received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy where she went on to start her full-time career as a physical therapist.

October 2020
After 7 months of a grueling academy, Carlos graduated and started his career as a proud member of the Connecticut State Police.
Our First Home 🏠

One of the scariest and most stressful times in their life, but also the most rewarding. Carlos and Stephanie purchased their first home and completely renovated it. They never could’ve made this happen without the help of their family and friends along the way. Words can’t describe how appreciative they are and how proud they are to call this home.
Our Engagement 💍
August 2023
What Stephanie thought was a family vacation to celebrate Carlos’s 30th birthday, turned out to be one of the best days of her life. As they walked down to shore, for what she thought was family dinner on the beach, she came to find only a table set for 2. Carlos proposed to Stephanie on the beach in Cabo San Lucas on August 16th, 2023, surrounded by family and friends.
Why Portugal You Ask? 🇵🇹

Carlos and Stephanie always wanted a small intimate wedding, and to Stephanie, she considers Portugal her second home. Summer after summer, 3 weeks at a time, she would travel with her family and stay at her grandparents home nestled in the heart of Caldas da Rainha. Beach days, water slides, go karts, bullfights, jet skiing, fresh eggs in the morning and fresh food from the garden, her grandmothers enormous home cooked meals, and most importantly family time. She always admired the beauty, peace, and simplicity of Portugal. Stephanie’s love for soccer propelled her to get dual citizenship and she went on to play for the Portuguese National Team in March 2014. Carlos and Stephanie are so proud and appreciative of their Portuguese and Italian roots and if it wasn’t for the hard work and courage of their family members that came before them, they wouldn’t be who they are or have half of what they do today. In March 2024, Carlos and Stephanie returned to Portugal and spent two wonderful weeks planning the wedding they’ve always dreamed of and can’t wait to share it with the people they love most in this world.
