We have reserved a small hotel block at our venue, the historic Jekyll Island Club Resort! Please use the link below (click the View button) to book your room in the gorgeous historic clubhouse. The hotel requires a 2-night minimum stay. Please note that the rates listed include all the standard taxes and fees, but we’ve negotiated a reduced resort fee ($30/night instead of $45/night) for our guests. That additional discount is not reflected in the online listing, but the hotel will manually enter it in each reservation prior to charging the resort fee on your date of arrival. Please check the resort’s website, or contact us or our hotel representative Alison Palm at apalm@jekyllclub.com/(912) 635-5171 with any questions!

Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Christina Green and Matthew Capron
We have made careful notes of our favorite activities and restaurants around the island for you. We can't wait to share this special place with you!
Beachside Bike Rentals

Beachside Bike Rentals

60 South Beachview Drive, Jekyll Island, GA 31527
, (912) 635-9801

Jekyll Island is a small, very bikeable island with quiet side streets and lots of bike paths -- some paved and scenic, and others sandy and adventurous. We've found the best bike rental prices at Beachside Bike Rentals next to the Days Inn by the beach! But you can also rent bikes affordably from several other locations around the island, including at Jekyll Wheels at the Jekyll Island Club Resort.

Red Bug Motors LLC

Red Bug Motors LLC

500 Riverview Drive, Jekyll Island, GA 31527
, (912) 635-9330

We haven't tried this ourselves yet, but our venue manager recommended Red Bug Motors for any of our guests who would like to rent a gas or electric cart on Jekyll Island. Give them a call or check out their website for more information!

Wake Up Coffee Company

Wake Up Coffee Company

32 Pier Road, Jekyll Island, GA 31527
, (912) 420-3255

Our favorite coffee shop on the island! It's in the old Jekyll Island Club bookkeeper's cottage in the historic district.

Zachry's Riverhouse

Zachry's Riverhouse

1 Harbor Road, Jekyll Island, GA 31527
, (912) 319-2174

Casual dining in a cozy spot just off the beaten path. Portions are perfect for lunch.

Eighty Ocean Kitchen and Bar

Eighty Ocean Kitchen and Bar

80 Ocean Way, Jekyll Island, GA 31527
, (912) 635-5238

We like Eighty Ocean for poolside service at the Ocean Club for resort guests, and dinner inside the restaurant open to all! On the dinner menu, we love their entrées, appetizers, and the house-made limoncello! We recommend skipping the flatbreads and salads, though, which we didn't love so much.

Georgia Sea Turtle Center

Georgia Sea Turtle Center

214 Stable Road, Jekyll Island, GA 31527
, (912) 635-4444

Jekyll Island is deeply devoted to its sea turtles who nest and hatch on the island every May through October. It is the home of Georgia's only sea turtle education and rehabilitation facility. We love visiting the sea turtles that are rescued and rehabilitated there and learning more about Jekyll's conservation efforts!

Mosaic, Jekyll Island Museum

Mosaic, Jekyll Island Museum

100 Stable Road, Jekyll Island, GA 31527
, (912) 635-4036

The Mosaic Museum in the historic district (only steps away from the Clubhouse) is a fun spot to visit and boasts the best gift shop on the island in our opinion! We loved and highly recommend the Landmark Trolley Tour offered by the museum to learn more about the island's history.

"The Wanderer" Trail

"The Wanderer" Trail

Jekyll Island, GA 31527

The Wanderer Trail tells the story of America's last known slave ship that illegally came ashore in 1858 with more than 500 enslaved Africans. The exhibit uses physical and audio installations to memorialize the victims of the slave trade who arrived on the Wanderer in this very spot, at what is now St. Andrews Beach Park. A somber experience, well worth the visit to learn more about this aspect of Jekyll's history.

Driftwood Beach

Driftwood Beach

Jekyll Island, GA 31527

Driftwood Beach is the result of erosion; the petrified remains of a maritime forest that was washed away by the sea over hundreds of years. It's picturesque, unique, and worth a trip to the north end of the island! Just watch your step -- the beach and access paths are rather rugged up there.

FAQs

Question

Is there a room block with a discount?

Answer

Yes! We have reserved a block of rooms in the historic Clubhouse at the Jekyll Island Club Resort, at a reduced rate for wedding groups. If you’d like to stay in the most beautiful building on the island and want the convenience of staying on-site after the party ends, we highly recommend booking a room in the block! Resort guests have access to a shuttle between the Clubhouse and the resort’s oceanfront location (the Jekyll Ocean Club), pools at both locations and a hot tub at the Ocean Club, and more. Please see the resort’s website for a full list of amenities! www.jekyllclub.com To book, go to the Travel section of this website and click the button labeled View.

Question

What else can you tell me about the room block?

Answer

Please note that all taxes and fees are included in the listed prices you see for each room type, but your actual price will be $30 cheaper for your 2-night stay due to a reduced resort fee that we negotiated for our guests. The hotel will manually input that additional discount in your reservation before you arrive, and the resort fee is not charged until after you have arrived. If you find that the room block is full or if you don’t see the type of room you’d like to book (e.g. rooms at the Ocean Club, double queen rooms, etc.), please let us know ASAP and we can add another room to the block for you, as long as additional rooms remain available in the hotel! Booking availability for the room block will close 30 days before our wedding date.

Question

Can my children come to the wedding?

Answer

We love all of your kids, but to keep our guest count intimately small and cultivate an elegant environment, we have agreed to only invite the VERY few (older) children whom we’ve been fortunate to spend a lot of time with throughout their lives and who know us very well (2 out of 3 of these older children are our flower girls!). If your little ones are not named on your invitation, we sadly won’t be able to host them at our wedding, but we hope to celebrate with them at another time!

Question

Can I bring a plus one?

Answer

Unfortunately to keep our wedding intimate, we are only able to host the invitee(s) specified on your invitation. If we have a plus one spot reserved for you, that person will either be named or listed as “and guest” on your formal invitation this winter!

Question

Where is the ceremony?

Answer

Our ceremony will take place on the beach at Glory Beach, 700 South Beachview Drive Jekyll Island, Georgia 31527. Traveling south on Beachview Drive, turn left into the Jekyll Island Soccer Complex, then continue straight back to the parking lot at the tree line. There will be a sign at the entrance to the beach access boardwalk directing guests to the ceremony from the parking lot. Glory Beach truly is a hidden gem! If using a GPS like Apple Maps or Google Maps, try entering the name of the beach, “Glory Beach,” instead of the street address, for the most accurate results.

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

We invite you to arrive on Glory Beach between 4:10-4:25 pm to enjoy light refreshments and allow time to be seated comfortably before we begin. All guests should be seated by 4:40 pm.

Question

Where do I park for the ceremony?

Answer

Glory Beach (our ceremony venue) has a parking lot right next to the boardwalk access path to the beach! After turning into the soccer complex from Beachview Drive, continue straight (don’t turn right!), passing between the soccer fields. The parking lot is along the tree line.

Question

Are there bathrooms at the beach ceremony?

Answer

Yes, but not super close to the beach. The restrooms are part of the soccer complex, and are located in the picnic pavilion at the other side of the soccer field park. We recommend using the restroom when you arrive at cocktail hour instead!

Question

Can I take pictures during the ceremony or post on social media?

Answer

We ask that guests refrain from using phones or taking pictures or videos during the ceremony. We have a wonderful photographer and videographer who will both capture every moment better than our smartphones can. We invite our loved ones to put their cameras away and fully enjoy the moment with us! We would also prefer to be the first to post pictures of our wedding online.

Question

Where do I go after the ceremony?

Answer

After our beach ceremony concludes, guests should go straight to the Riverfront Lawn at the Jekyll Island Club Resort for cocktail hour, with the reception to follow on the same lawn! The Jekyll Island Club is a 10 minute drive from the ceremony site. Please note that bridal party members needed for portraits will be asked in advance to stay behind on the beach for a little while after the ceremony!

Question

Where do I park at the Jekyll Island Club?

Answer

Valet parking is available at the front entrance of the Clubhouse for the duration the event for $6 (debit/credit card only). Guests staying at the resort have the option to charge daily valet parking to their rooms for $15 per day. For FREE self parking, the closest parking lot to the Riverfront Lawn is at The Wharf. Search for "The Wharf Jekyll Island" in your GPS. It'll show you a restaurant located on a pier which belongs to the resort. Navigate there and park in the parking lot it takes you to. If The Wharf's lot is full, there is additional free self-parking on the other side of the Clubhouse. Continue on the road toward the front of the Clubhouse and drive past the valet/bellman stand at the front of the Clubhouse, then bear left to circle around the side of the Clubhouse building. There will be a free parking lot on your right, adjacent to the Jekyll Wheels Bike Rentals shop. Staff will be on hand to direct you to our cocktail hour on the Riverfront Lawn, which runs parallel between the pool area and the river.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Yes! We are requesting beach formal attire for our wedding. Beach formal is much the same as formal attire, but with the adjustments necessary for an outdoor event on a temperate spring evening. Think lightweight suits or tuxedos, elevated cocktail dresses or formal midi to ankle length dresses, etc. Please do not wear white/cream/ivory and the like. Our venue is steeped in Gilded Age and Roaring ‘20s history. While this isn’t a costume party, feel free to take some fun inspiration from the era! Our ceremony is on very hard-packed sand and the cocktail hour and reception are on a grass lawn, so you might plan your footwear accordingly. You are welcome to remove your shoes if you’re worried about them on the sand.

Question

What are the bridesmaids and groomsmen wearing?

Answer

The bridesmaids will wear floor-length chiffon dresses in muted ocean shades of blue and green. The groomsmen will wear lightweight gray tuxedos with bow ties.

Question

Are the venues ADA accessible?

Answer

Yes! There’s a lovely boardwalk leading from the parking lot to the beach, and beach wheelchairs are available to rent from some hotels and companies nearby. We will recommend specific rental companies here soon! Please note that the cocktail hour and reception are on grass, so special wheels may be required there, too, at your discretion. All restrooms at the Jekyll Island Club are ADA compliant. Handicap parking spaces are available in the parking lots at both the ceremony beach and the Club. Please make note if prompted or contact the hotel when booking your accommodations if you require an ADA accessible room. If booking through our room block, you can call the Jekyll Island Club Resort’s reservations team at (866) 342-3683 to book your accommodations. Make sure to let them know you’re part of the Green-Capron wedding block!

Question

Can I fly into the Atlanta airport?

Answer

Please feel free to make whatever travel plans you see fit, but also note that the Atlanta airport is 4.5 hours away from Jekyll Island by car. Several destination airports that are closer to the island (30-90 minute drives) are listed under the Travel section of this website!

Question

What’s the weather supposed to be like?

Answer

Mid to late April has the best weather of the year on Jekyll Island! We hope for a dry day with temperatures between the high 60s-high 70s throughout the event! There’s likely to be a breeze given our proximity to the ocean. We’re having an evening reception, so guests in dresses may want to bring a light shawl or nice jacket to stay cozy after sunset.

Question

What happens if it rains?

Answer

Our cocktail hour and reception will be moved indoors to the Morgan Ballroom at the Jekyll Island Club in the event of a rain-out. As for the beach ceremony, our ceremony start time may be adjusted slightly if rain is called for in the days leading up to the wedding. We hope this won’t happen!

Question

Is Jekyll Island accessible from the mainland by car?

Answer

Yes! There’s a bridge across the marshes and river that will take you from Brunswick to Jekyll Island. Please note that due to Jekyll Island being a state park, there is a small parking fee to drive onto the island, payable at an automated drive-thru ticket booth upon entry from the bridge.

Question

How do I use the disabled veterans' discount for the Jekyll Island entrance/parking fee?

Answer

Military veterans with service-connected disability through the VA are eligible to enter Jekyll Island for free! No $10 parking pass required. To enter for free, drive up to the gate and press the "Help" button. An attendant is there 24/7 and will respond through a speaker; there is a camera and microphone in the kiosk. Show the attendant through the camera lens your physical or digital Veteran ID Card (VIC) or Veteran Health ID Card (VHIC) that says "Service Connected" on it. They will waive the fee for your vehicle, generating a free annual pass tied to your license plate, and allow you through the gate. A letter from the Department of Veteran Affairs showing service-connected benefits may also be accepted as identification, but you might be asked to come inside the Guest Information Center for in-person viewing and assistance. If you have any questions about this process, please contact the Jekyll Island Guest Information Center at (912) 635-3636.

Question

Are Uber or Lyft available on the island?

Answer

Unfortunately you’re very unlikely to find rideshare services or cabs on Jekyll Island, partly due to the small size of the island and also to the $10 fee that car drivers pay each time they enter the island, since it is a state park. Resort guests at the Jekyll Island Club Resort have access to a free shuttle that travels between the Clubhouse and the beachfront Ocean Club every 30 minutes, but other than that, your best bet is to rent a car. We have obtained group booking promo codes for car rentals through Avis and Hertz, which ensure you’re seeing their best available rates. You’ll find these promo codes in the Travel section of this website. If you’re so inclined, bike and golf cart rentals are also available in several locations on the island. Please see the "Things to Do" section of this website for more information on bike and golf cart rentals.

Question

What food will be served and what if I have dietary restrictions?

Answer

There will be a variety of hors d’oeuvres served at cocktail hour, and a plated dinner (and wedding cake!) served at the reception. When you RSVP, please make your entrée selection and fill in any of your dietary restrictions/food allergies that the chef should be aware of! The Jekyll Island Club catering team will accommodate you!

Question

What is the order of events on the wedding day?

Answer

4:10-4:25 pm- Guests arrive at Glory Beach for wedding ceremony 4:45-5:10 pm- Ceremony 5:30-6:30pm- Cocktail Hour on the Riverfront Lawn at the Jekyll Island Club Resort 6:45-10:00 pm- Dinner and dancing reception on the Riverfront Lawn. Dinner served at 7:00. 10:00-11:00 pm- After party Please note that this timeline may change a bit (with notice!) if we experience inclement weather.

Question

I have questions that haven’t been addressed here. Who should I contact?

Answer
