One of the coolest spots off the Royal Mile! I always stop in for a drink whenever visiting. It is in a famous close- a little more of a modern pub vibe. Great cocktails.
Evan and I have spent a couple Valentine's Days here.. it is a beautiful gothic restaurant just outside the castle. Order the champagne and oysters! You can take a stroll through Victoria Street aka Diagon Alley after dinner and find some fun pubs. Again, book in advance for this one!
This a fun, affordable activity! There are many different companies you can book through. Not only is this historic, but it is also spooky and fun to do with a group of friends. I think the tours are maybe an hour max. You'll get to see a different perspective of the city of Edinburgh- highly recommend!
