STORY'S

We have some pretty fun stories. If you want to know a little more about us or our experiences, keep scrolling ;)

How we met

One summer night in 2020 Alyssa was out with a friend on a drive. They had this route they always drove, which passed Isaac's house. This particular night Isaac was outside shooting hoops and as we drove by, Alyssa's friend said "Hey, I think that I have a class with that kid! Lets go say hi." So the two pulled over and started to chat with Isaac. After a while of just chatting, we got out of Alyssa's car and started playing basketball with him! It was getting late, but everyone exchanged Snapchat's and decided we need to hang out again. They hung out the rest of summer and the rest is history.

In sickness & in health

*Warning! Gross and embarrassing, but hilarious story ahead* In 2022, Alyssa and Isaac were living up at Utah State University when they had gone down to Mantua to visit Alyssa's family. We spent all day with her family and had a ton of fun. We left that night and went to bed and all was well. Alyssa woke up with a sick stomach and ended up throwing up. She had texted Isaac what's going on and then she shortly received a text from Isaac saying that he also threw up. Odd. So we both spent the night sick as a dog. In the morning, Isaac texted Alyssa and said "Pack your duffle bag. I can't stay at work so I am coming to get you." The apartment that Alyssa was living in at the time had 6 girls total, all sharing one bathroom. Isaac had his own room with a bathroom so it would be a lot nicer to be sick at his house. Long story short, we took turns sleeping on the air mattress and his bed. We took turns holding each others hair back while the other threw up. It went on all day long. At the end of the day Alyssa looked at Isaac and said "Ya know, you have seen me at probably my lowest point now. If you break up after me I am gonna be pissed" Not only were we sick, but Alyssa's entire family was also sick. Turns out it was food poisoning. Great Monday.

Little bit of heaven in our lives

One thing that you will notice on the wedding day is the absence of Isaac's parents. On January 23, 2021 his parents passed away in a tragic car accident. They were able to walk up to Heaven holding hands. It was and still is the hardest thing that Isaac and his sisters are going through. Alyssa was luck enough to get to know his parents and start building a relationship with them before they passed. Now the couple isn't including this story to get pity. They want to include this story so that everyone can remember them. One of the biggest fears the couple has is that they will be forgotten in the commotion of the day. So when you walk passed the table with pictures of them, try to just take a moment for them. It is greatly appreciated by the couple, as well as Isaac's family.

Alyssa's Knight in shining gym shorts

*This one is kinda long*

Another USU story. Late December of 2021 Alyssa had to go take a test at the USU testing center. It was probably around 7 PM when she was suppose to take the test so she left her house 10 minutes early to find parking and walk in. That night was one of the worst snow storms that had hit Logan so far, so the roads were very very slick. Alyssa knew she would only be at the testing center for a couple minutes so she just wore a light crewneck, sweats, and her crocs. You aren't allowed to have your phone on and you cant be wearing any sort of watch, so she took off her apple watch and put it in her pocket and turned off her phone and she sprinted from her car to the testing center. Got inside and finished the test (didn't get the score she wanted) and sprinted back to her car. She called Isaac to complain she didn't get the score she wanted when she realized her watch wasn't in her pocket. As Alyssa is beginning to cry in her car about her bad score, her missing watch, and her now wet feet, Isaac got his big ski coat and started to run to her rescue. He had just got home from a leg day at the gym and if you know anything about leg days, normally your in converse. As he is sprinting up the giant hill he lives on, while still on the phone with Alyssa, he slips and takes a hard fall. Now Alyssa is crying more because she feels bad he is running to her rescue. It was probably only 5 minutes before he rounded the corner into the parking garage covered in snow, wearing shorts and converse, now with a bad knee. Isaac gave the big ski coat to Alyssa and they went to search for her watch. They were out in the snow looking for the gosh darn watch when Isaac finally found it. They both ran back to Alyssa's car and Isaac insisted he drive her home. (Her car is stick and he lives on a super steep road. Manual car, icy roads, steep hills, not the best combination.) So he drove her home, walked her back inside, then ran all the way home.

How he proposed

Best day ever

Alyssa was on her way home from a staff retreat with the dance studio she teaches at. She had been texting Isaac throughout the day, but then all the sudden his responses got short and sporadic. She didn't think too much of it. She had been home for maybe an hour before she heard her mom groaning in the office. After a minute her mom went downstairs and asked Alyssa, "Hey Jeff and Kim (family friends) need to borrow dads table saw and it's heavy. Can you help me bring it upstairs and put it in my car?" So Alyssa went downstairs and said to her mom, "Mom this isn't heavy." Her mom looked at her and said, "Well maybe not heavy, just big and awkward." In Alyssa's mind she thought her mom was funny because the table saw wasn't that big. After the two loaded the saw into the car her mom asked if she would go help take it down. Alyssa replied, "Isn't Jeff down there? If they called needing the saw, why wouldn't they be there?" After some arguing, Alyssa got in the car to go help her mom. They started the drive to the Maughan's house when they pulled up to Tingey Corner (a family owned campsite) and there stood Isaac with a bouquet of flowers. Alyssa looked over at her mom, who was bawling, and started to cry. She got out of the car and she instantly knew. Isaac and Alyssa walked up to this small grove of trees where Isaac had hung lights and pictures of them over the years. After a moment of looking around and just admiring the beautiful space, Isaac got down on one knee. He had the most beautiful speech. The moment was absolutely perfect.
