Scott and Melissa met while Melissa was working at the college Scott attended. Five years of hello’s, see ya later’s, pop in’s and stop by’s, a retirement party in May 2021 brought the two back together on the same campus again. The once acquaintances became close friends and a simple kind gesture changed the plot line of their story. Scott, joking with Melissa, said “I am going to give you a complement a day until you agree to have dinner with me.” He held up his end of the deal and gave me a compliment every day for three weeks. Scott asked Melissa to lunch as “friends”, which she agreed to and the two went to Chick Fi La on very rainy day. The laughs and conversation shared at lunch began the change from friends to more. A few days later at a coffee shop in Weatherford, Scott came to help Melissa with homework for a Biology class. While he was explaining the lesson to her, Melissa had, as she calls, “a Beauty and the Beast moment” and knew there was something more between them. Dinner happened the very next night on June 12, 2021 and began their walk into the next chapter of their lives.
We have chosen to say "I do" in a destination micro-wedding ceremony with our immediate families, in the Colorado Rockies. Sister of the bride, Kari LaRusch, will host a Reception Shower to celebrate the couple, in Texas.
