FAQs

The Wedding Website of Carmen Lawrence and Eric Bille
Thanks for visiting our Wedding Website! Our ceremony and reception will be incredibly small and intimate, so while we may not have room for everyone to attend we are very happy to share our bliss with you here. Please send us questions as they arise, but note that the bride and groom will not have their phones with them on the day of the rehearsal dinner, ceremony, or reception. Any questions attendees have on the day of the event should be directed to the mother of the groom, Gretchen, or the father of the bride, Ron.
Question

When's the Bridal Shower / Wedding Shower / Engagement Party?

Answer

If you haven't figured it out by now, we're not exactly having a conventional wedding. Since all our family and friends are spread across the continent and we're having this wedding on a timeline, we've opted to not do many of the typical things people do through years of engagement. You're welcome to reach out to the bride and groom to see how you can celebrate with them (and no one's gonna stop you from checking out the registry), but we may not be holding the parties and events that many weddings have. Thanks for understanding and wishing us the best!

Question

Can I stay onsite at the house?

Answer

There is lots of space at the house that we'll be allowing guests to stay in for the duration of their stay. However, we are having individualized conversations with guests to establish interest and reserve rooms. If you are interested in staying onsite, please message the bride/groom as soon as possible. If you are not staying onsite, please be aware that there are many other great AirBnBs and VRBOs locally, and we highly recommend you visit these sites to secure housing for your stay.

Question

What Time Should I Arrive?

Answer

We recommend most guests arrive onsite 30min-1 hour prior to the ceremony, since our venue is out of the way. Before the ceremony begins, we encourage you to mingle with guests, grab a drink (alcoholic or non), and enjoy some of the gorgeous scenery. There may be a few select guests invited to come even earlier, if they are helping the bride/groom get ready, putting final touches on decorations, or coordinate vendors. We'll let you know early October if we'd like you to come even earlier day-of.

Question

Is this an unplugged wedding (or, what even is that)?

Answer

An unplugged wedding is one where all guests are asked to keep their phones away and not take pictures/videos on their phones. Quick answer- YES! While we encourage you to grab pics and selfies with people before the ceremony, during cocktail hour/dinner, or during the reception, we ask that you please let the photographers do what we paid them to do- and that's taking pictures of the big moments! So please, keep your phones away during.. -The Ceremony -Any toasts -Important dances during the reception (such as our first dance, the mother/son dance, and the father/daughter dance). -The bouquet toss -Any other important, professional-photography-worthy moments! THAT'S THE PHOTOGRAPHERS' JOB!

Question

When Are We Taking Pictures?

Answer

Pictures with families and friends will be taken during cocktail hour, immediately following the ceremony. After our "I-Do's," Eric and Carmen will do the paperwork needed and hustle back out for pictures- which will give you just enough time for a bathroom break or to grab an appetizer/drink. Then, we'll take 20 minutes or so taking pictures with family and friends. Because we only have an hour allotted for all of our posed, in wedding-dress pictures, please stay within ear-shot of the photographer and coordinating friends that may be calling your name to be in a picture. Weather permitting, these will all happen on the lawn (where the ceremony is)- so you can stay on the overlooking porch, where all the food and drinks will be!

Question

I'm Planning on Giving a Toast! That Okay?

Answer

Thank you for being so thoughtful and loving. However, we will be limiting toasts to only a few people that we have already selected. We're doing this for a few reasons- because we will be taking pictures during cocktail hour, and because we want to be able to sit and enjoy our dinners without feeling the pressure to stop eating and listen to all 25 guests give toasts. We love you all so much and we're so happy you want to celebrate our union with us, but please put your toast in the form of a letter that we can enjoy at another time.
