The summer of 2016 brought both Brynn and Evan on an international adventure to work at a kids summer camp in Istanbul, Turkey. They both went by camp pseudonyms—Brynn was "Lily" and Evan was "Indy"—and they quickly became inseparable. It wasn't long before their fellow camp counselors started referring to them simply as "Lindy." They spent the next two months getting to know each other as they wandered through the neighborhoods of Istanbul, ventured on boats down the Bosphorus, and camped on the beaches of the Black Sea. It was clear by the end of the summer that Brynn and Evan had something special, something worth continuing regardless of the distance between them. Evan went back to his home in Oceanside, California while Brynn went back to Roanoke College in Virginia to finish her senior year of college. Despite over 2,000 miles between them, Brynn and Evan knew they were meant to be together and made it work over countless Facetimes and a few, precious visits that year. As time passed, Brynn moved to Philadelphia for a new job and Evan moved to Boston to attend graduate school. After the cross-country distance, the 5-hour drive from Philadelphia to Boston was nothing! In 2020, lemons (the pandemic cancelling Evan's post-graduate plans) turned into lemonade when Evan moved in with Brynn in Philadelphia. The next year, they adopted a sweet rescue dog, Bella, and life in Philadelphia felt complete. Two years later, Brynn, Evan, and Bella made the move to Washington, DC. They have since grown to love their Logan Circle neighborhood and have never felt more at home. In January of 2024, knowing how much Brynn loved and missed the mountains, Evan booked a charming cabin getaway in the Blue Ridge Mountains of West Virginia. Overlooking the sunset in front of a glowing fire, he proposed. When deciding where to get married, the choice was obvious. The Asherman family (Brynn's mom's family) has had River Rock, a summer home in Ogunquit, Maine, in their family for over 100 years. It's the most special place in Brynn's life and quickly became one of Evan's favorite places in the world, too.
