Brooke and Bennett were taking the same class at Humboldt State University but didn't meet each other until halfway through the semester when they both went to a departmental dinner. Brooke almost didn't go to dinner, but decided that she needed to make an effort to meet new friends. It's a good thing she did, because she met her future husband! They hit it off immediately and Bennett walked two miles in the opposite direction from his house to walk her home. He also hit it off with her two cats, who love him to death. During a class field trip a few days later, Bennett invited her to a Halloween dance party, and here we are 7 years later!

Bennett proposed on the shores of Ice Lake, during a backpacking trip in the San Juan mountains of Colorado. He then surprised her with a beautiful evening in Durango and a dinner with family.
