Lane and Brittany first met in the summer of 2015 at a FFA convention. They both attended the dance on Friday night, where Lane asked Brittany to dance during the middle of a song. The song ended pretty quickly, because time flies when you're having fun, so they decided to dance together for the next song as well. During the song, they found out that their hometowns were only 20 minutes away from each other. After the song ended, they both went their separate ways and joined back with their group of friends. The next day when Brittany's group attended the class Lane and his group was teaching is when the real fun began. Lane's "big move" was to come sit beside Brittany after the class was over. If anyone knows Lane though, you know he sat there awkwardly not knowing what to say. After they left from the convention, Lane received a message on Instagram from Brittany which began their journey. After texting over the summer, the two began dating in October of 2015 and they have been together ever since. There were challenges to overcome when they had to handle the long distance relationship when Lane became a firefighter in Oklahoma City while Brittany continued school in Texas. After one year of a long distance relationship, Brittany decided it was time to join Lane in Oklahoma and continue her education at USAO. After 5 LONG years of waiting according to Brittany, she was surprised with an engagement ring at couples pictures in the Wichita Mountains.
Lane scheduled couples pictures in the Wichita Mountains, and told Brittany it was her birthday present. For three weeks leading up to the pictures Brittany nagged Lane about how proposing would be such a great idea, little did she know he already had the ring. They were half way done with pictures, and Brittany had given up the idea that he was going to propose. Then the photographer told them to turn back to back and Lane said he had something in his sock poking him, Brittany didn't think anything about it. When the photographer told them to turn around, Lane was on one knee.
