Our story goes back a long way. We first met as classmates at Dickerson Middle School in Marietta, Georgia (Pod A!), though we didn't have much to do with one another. We went on to Walton High School and, though we were in different social circles, there was quite some overlap. We graduated from High School in 2004 and went our separate ways, Bruce to Auburn and then active duty in the US Army, and Britt to UGA. In January of 2010, Britt received a Facebook message from Bruce that started off, "Hey Britt(any). Don't think we've spoken since High School..." and went on to explain that he was currently overseas in Afghanistan. Britt, thinking it was her civic duty to respond to the deployed soldier, wrote back. It turns out, Bruce was stationed at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, CO, and Britt had applied to graduate school at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO. We continued to correspond and as time went on, Britt was accepted into graduate school and the realization that we would be in the same state began to make the possibility of a relationship real. We arrived in Colorado on the same day, May 31, 2010--Britt from Marietta and Bruce from Afghanistan. We dated for about 5 months, at which point we decided the timing wasn't right and the distance was too much. After that, we completely lost touch for SEVEN years. On June 17, 2017, Britt got another Facebook message from Bruce that read, "Hey, long time no talk. I see we are both in Denver now. I'd love to catch up sometime." And catch up we did. It was both familiar and new and we had lived a lot of life since we'd last seen each other. Within a week we were exclusive. Britt knew she was going to marry Bruce within 6 days of reconnecting and Bruce said Britt was "the one that got away" all those years ago. We are about to celebrate 3 years together--3 amazing years of love, fun, corny jokes, and fur babies. We can't want for this next, new, exciting chapter in our lives together!
