Feel free to enjoy the botanical garden before the parks close/before the wedding. When you buy your tickets for the park, tell them you are also here for the Brinkley Hale wedding, and you will get a discount on the tickets. Just remember, at 5p you have to be at the Bloemendaal House. The staff do not want you walking in the park during the wedding. Thank you.
The Poe Museum, or the Edgar Allan Poe Museum, is a museum located in the Shockoe Bottom neighborhood of Richmond, Virginia, United States, dedicated to American writer Edgar Allan Poe. Though Poe never lived in the building, it serves to commemorate his time living in Richmond. The museum holds one of the world's largest collections of original manuscripts, letters, first editions, memorabilia, and personal belongings. The museum also provides an overview of early 19th-century Richmond, where Poe lived and worked. The museum features the life and career of Poe by documenting his accomplishments with pictures, relics, and verse, and focusing on his many years in Richmond.
Two floors of exhibits will take you on a journey from the very beginning of the Civil War to Reconstruction and beyond. Located in downtown Richmond on the James River, the museum sits on the site of the Tredegar Iron Works. Cannons made at Tredegar fired the first shots of the Civil War at Fort Sumter. The thick armor plating that protected the ironclad CSS Virginia (Merrimack) during its fight with the Monitor was rolled at Tredegar. More than half of the cannon used by the Confederate army were cast here.
Chimborazo Hospital was a Civil War-era facility built in Richmond, Virginia, to serve the medical needs of the Confederate Army. It functioned between 1862 and 1865 in what is now Chimborazo Park, treating over 76,000 injured Confederate soldiers.
