Things To Do

There are so many things to do on this small island.... and May is one of our favorite times of the year here. We always refer to TripAdviser, but we have listed some favorites below. 1. Walk along the beach. HHI has beautiful wide beaches. Check out Coligny Beach for public beach access. There are tons of cute shops and places to eat. 2. Rent bikes. The island has a ton of bike trails and is very flat. Your hotel likely has bikes for you to rent or can advise on where to rent. 3. Explore Bluffton. Bluffton is a cute little town off island full of shops and galleries. 4. Take the ferry over to Daufuskie island or explore Harbour Town. Daufuskie 5. Golf. HHI is known for the golf courses. Robert Trent Jones in Palmetto Dunes and Harbour Town Golf Links in Sea Pines Resort (where the PGA tour is).

Harbour Town

There are a bunch of shops in Harbour Town. You can parasail and a ton of watersports. Also this is where you can tour the lighthouse.

Bluffton

Bluffton, SC

This is a cute little town. Tons of galleries and shops. Bluffton oyster company is here. There is a church along the river with wonderful views.

Tanger Outlets

Great place to do a little retail therapy.

Coligny Plaza Shopping Center

This is considered Hilton Head's "tourist" area. It has the only Piggly Wiggly left on the island. A ton of cute shops to explore and a bunch of restaurants. Be sure to check out the Frosty Frog.

Palmetto Dunes is known for their golf courses and tennis center. You can also rent canoes and kayaks and explore the canals.

Hilton Head Distillery

The island's first craft distillery. They produce various spirits including rum, whiskey, vodka and gin. Some of their unique rum flavors include espresso, bananas foster, and pineapple. Some of their unique whiskey flavors include honeysuckle, butterscotch, apple & maple, and peach. Tours are available and include a tasting flight and souvenir shot glass.

Fort Howell is an earthworks fort built in 1864 during the American Civil War, located on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. It was named in honor of Union Army Brigadier General Joshua B. Howell, and Its primary function was to protect Mitchelville, a Freedman's town located to its east.
