We were both in school at Suffolk University in 2014 - I was finishing my master's and Bill was finishing his senior year. We had mutual friends because I went to undergrad there, as well, but the first time that we crossed paths was at a student government awards ceremony where Bill saw me across a room and asked about me to our mutual friend, Joe. I was unavailable at the time, so we went separate ways for around 5 years before Bill started following me on Instagram and would respond to my stories trying to weasel his way in ;). After chatting on social media here and there for a few months, we went on our first "date" on September 19, 2019 and the rest is history! I use quotations because I've told Bill for years that I didn't consider it a date, but he considers it our dating anniversary! HA! Over the last four years, we have created a beautiful life together. We bought our first home in August 2020 and adopted our first fur-baby, Olive, that September. September is such a memorable month for us and we cannot wait to add another milestone to those memories.
Bill and I were going to Scituate, MA for a friends birthday party. I had never spent a lot of time on the South Shore (North Shore girl for life) and so I wasn't really aware of my surroundings. Bill was driving down in my Jeep and was really not acting like himself. Neither was I because I was hungry, tired, and annoyed at being in the car for so long. We arrived in Scituate 45 minutes later than I thought and we pulled up to the Scituate lighthouse where Bill wanted to take a "pitstop" so we could let Olive out. Annoyed by this, I asked him why we were stopping when we were already so late and he explained that it was because Olive gets nervous in crowds so best to let her out somewhere quieter. I got out and started walking her around down towards the lighthouse... it was 20 degrees out and we were right on the water, so I was trying to rush her so we could get back. Bill asked if I wanted to take a picture - he had heard that this lighthouse was famous and really beautiful, so I said "sure, do you have your phone?" When I turned around, he had the box with the ring in his hand and I started immediately laughing because I am impossible to surprise, but he did it! We had a very nice stranger take a photo of us so we could remember the moment and went off to celebrate with our friends. I laugh that he hijacked his friends birthday, but it was one of the best days of our lives!
