The day before Molly's graduation from UW-Whitewater Ben and Molly met while she was emptying the trash getting ready to move out. After finding out who Molly was Ben put in the effort to get to know her better. The first date was at Big Cedar Lake where it became apparent that their grandparents had known each other for years, that Ben had played soccer against her younger brother Willie, and that their uncles had been life-long friends. Somehow they had never met each other before the first date even though they had seemingly shared many similarities and personal connections. As they got to know each other better, and spent more time with one another, they both deep down realized that their relationship just felt right. After the first date and upon Ben returning home late in the afternoon, his mother asked how his time with Molly went. Ben with full certainty told his mother that Molly was the woman that he was going to marry.

Beginning in early January of 2018, Molly, Ben and his mother Deb went on a vacation to Cancun. The prior year in February of 2017, Ben had met a photographer from the Royal Resorts in Cancun who oversaw the whole photography department for the hotel. Upon developing a relationship with Emiliano, the photographer, he began speculating on how he could one day propose to Molly in Cancun in the most special manner. The plan was this; Ben knew that Molly did not enjoy photos, so he set up two photoshoots. The first one was a casual shoot, aimed solely at getting Molly comfortable in front of Emiliano, and at the idea of taking photos with Ben in a more formal occasion. The next part of the plan was to have Emiliano stop by one day later while they were on the beach and ask Molly and Ben if they could unexpectedly schedule another photo shoot to add to his professional portfolio due to him taking a new role within the government in Guadalajara. This photoshoot he said would involve dressing in much more formal of attire, and would take place on the beach while the sun was beginning to set. Before Molly had a chance to reply to Emiliano's question, Ben looked at Molly and told Emiliano that they would love to take the photos to help him out. Two days later, the second photoshoot came and both Ben and Emiliano knew it was for the proposal. Molly had been pretty upset at the prospect of having to take more photos, but Ben convinced her to follow through with it anyways (thank God she listened). After taking about twenty photos, the plan was to take individual ones. Molly was first, and Emiliano posed her on the beach facing the ocean. He told her not to move and to continue looking out to the ocean. Simultaneously, Emiliano, who had been holding on to the proposal ring, secretly handed it to Ben. Once he got ready, and when Ben was on a knee right behind Molly, he told her to turn around. It was at that moment: Emiliano captured the most magical moment of their life!
