In March of 2020, Zach and Mikayla matched on the popular dating app Hinge. Mikayla was newly single and Zach had just moved to California from Michigan...right when the pandemic began. Mikayla did not initially respond to Zach's message so, determined to meet her, he went to her Instagram and discovered they shockingly had two mutual friends. Zach reached out to his coworker/friend (Enisa) who relayed Zach's interest in Mikayla to her college best friend (Colleena). Mikayla and Colleena became friends in LA through their sorority alumni group in 2018. Colleena texted Mikayla about a guy named Zach on Hinge who her best friend was coworkers with, and vouched that he was worth going on a date with. Mikayla replied: "What a small world! Is he cool/cute? He seems nice." Mikayla went on to respond to Zach's message, and after some conversations (and a *few* pandemic to-go margaritas with her roommates) she asked him on a date! What was supposed to be a casual beach date for a few hours turned into an entire day spent together, and now a lifetime.
