Alastair and AnnMarie met in Chicago in 2019. While the first date was at a classic cocktail bar, their third date was slightly more adventurous. A road trip, a come from behind Notre Dame victory, dinner in Chicago, tallying to a 15-hour date, they already couldn't wait for the next date. Throughout dating, they continued their love of traveling together from skiing in Tahoe to beach volleyball in Marco Island and from a surprise birthday party in New York City to hiking the Pacific North West.

With thunderstorms looming on their first day in Porto, Alastair quickly pivoted the original proposal plan. However, what he did not anticipate was AnnMarie being ready to go explore the city early, for the first (and only) time in her life. Strolling along the coastline and up the stairs to the viewpoint, Alastair dropped down on one knee, much to AnnMarie's surprise and excitement. The perfect moment was captured, right before they spent the day enjoying white wine, Portuguese seafood and each other's company. Safe to say, Porto will always have a special place in their hearts and they can't wait to go back again!
