Gabriel and Sarah had no idea, that when they both accepted interviews at the local Olympia REI, their lives would change for the better. After both getting hired, and placed at the registers, there was already a spark. They trained together and constantly skipping sections in the training guide in order to look impressive to the other. Then one day, Gabriel asked to visit Sarah's home. What followed was hours of conversation about everything and nothing. He asked her out at the end of the night and they had their first date at the Evergreen State College Farm the next day. From there, they climbed mountains, travelled, read and eventually farmed their way into love.

After Sarah left her former job to become a full-time farmer in January 2019, her and Gabriel took a trip to visit, and vacation in, Friday Harbor in the San Juan Islands. One morning they decided to wake up early to watch the sunrise from their deck. They watched the ferries come and go from Friday Harbor with frozen, bare feet and hot coffee. Sarah soon began to grow hungry (for pancakes) and moved to go inside. Before she could reach the door, Gabriel asked her to wait as he had a question for her. She turned around to see him kneeling on the frozen wood that made up their deck, bathed in the light of the sunrise , asking her to marry him. She said yes!

Sarah and Gabriel eloped on Mount Rainier for an intimate ceremony atop one of their favorite mountains. They wanted a small, but special ceremony for their wedding, completely unique to them. However, with family near and far, they wanted to celebrate their marriage together with them- what a perfect way to bring family together! They will hold a more formal ceremony on their one year anniversary. It is called the "friends and family wedding", with love.
