We met at the New Daisy Theater on Beale Street in Downtown Memphis, TN. Ashton was performing in a step show for his fraternity, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. Ashley was invited to attend the step show and after party with her friend, Clara. Ashley noticed Ashton on the stage and asked Clara if she knew him (only because he looked familiar lol). She stated that he attended the fight night watch party at her house months prior. After the show, Clara, Paige (Ashley's sister) and Ashley went backstage to wait for the after party. This is when Ashton noticed Ashley in her red dress as he walked downstairs. During the afterparty, Ashton asked the DJ about Ashley and sent another frat brother to speak with her. He mentioned that Ashton was a "wholesome bruh". Ashley was humored and was open to meeting Ashton. After Ashton approached Ashley, we stepped into the entryway of the theater and talked the rest of the night. After about a week of texting we went on our first date and the rest is history.

The final proposal was on Aug. 10, but it almost happened on two other dates. The first was when Ashton and Ashley went to Disney World in April '23. The restaurant Ashton chose for them to eat was not as upscale as he would have liked. Also, during the firework show in the Magic Kingdom, it was so many people and Ashley previously made it clear, that she did not want to be proposed to in front of a bunch of random people. The next date was July 4th, because Ashton knew Ashley's mother and sister would be in town. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the proposal was postponed. Ashton then made the decision to propose on Aug. 10. They were set to leave for a cruise Aug. 12-19 and he figured she would want to get proposed to on the ship. A few days prior, he asked her dad for his work schedule and he invited one of his line brothers/best men. On Aug. 10, he asked her to go to one of their favorite restaurants together, Flight. He called it a pre-birthday dinner, and told her that he asked her dad to stop by. The proposal was almost given away in two ways. One, Ashton asked her when was she getting her hair and nails done; second, his line brother showed and made it very awkward. During the dinner Ashton gave Ashley a "birthday card" that said "Bride-to-be". As soon as she open the card she started crying. Ashton then presented the ring, got on one knee, and said "Ashley Hill, will you marry me?" She responded with, "YES!!!"
