We recommend that you fly into Podgorica (TGD), the capital of Montenegro. This is approximately 2 hours away from Perast, which is where the wedding ceremony will be held at. To travel from Podgorica to Perast, there are dozens of taxi companies as well as bus lines available around the clock at direct call as well as at the airport, and we are happy to help arrange transportation ahead of time as well (please reach out directly). You can also fly in using the Tirana, Albania (TIA) or Dubrovnik, Croatia (DBV) airports, but you will have to cross an international border in order to enter Montenegro, which may result in a few-hour delay.
If you are looking to stay close to the wedding ceremony location, we recommend the following cities - Kotor, Perast, Dobrota, Risan, and Prcanj. All of these are located within a 20-minute drive and sit inside one of the beautiful Bay of Kotor. If you are looking to explore the mountains, we recommend Zabljak or Kolasin. These are both within a 10-20 minute drive from Montenegro's national parks and some of the most popular landscapes. These are both within 2.5 - 3-hour drive from the location of the ceremony. If you are interested in being in a larger city with a broader offering, we recommend the capital Podgorica, Bar, or Herceg Novi. All three contain countless opportunities to explore on foot and see everything from old stone towns to lengthy promenades - they are located within 1 - 2-hour drive from the location of the ceremony.
If you will be driving, your license must be in English and in valid status to be accepted - otherwise, you will have to obtain an International Driving Permit. We recommend bringing cash as back-up as certain vendors in Montenegro do not accept credit cards.
Montenegro does not offer public wifi - we recommend that you obtain a daily pass for international service on your existing phone plan or purchase a local service package upon arrival in order to have uninterrupted access to essential tools like maps, iMessage and other online communication apps (WhatsApp, Viber, etc) which are often to request taxi services.
Montenegro does not have Uber, Lyft or any form of ride-sharing. The taxi industry includes many companies that operate a fleet of vehicles, usually uniquely decorated or painted to stand out, and customers can request taxi rides using phone messages or direct calls. Taxi services are also available using online communication apps such as Viber and WhatsApp. We recommend having cash as back up if you plan on using taxi services since some vendors do not accept credit cards. We will be posting an up-to-date list of taxi services 2 months before the wedding ceremony and updating it throughout.
