Annelise Claire

and

Price St. Clair

June 21, 2025

Washington, DC

Our Story

We first met on January 6, 2023 over dinner at Annelise’s family’s home in Washington, DC. Vivian (sister of the bride) had met Price a year earlier while touring Furman University and invited him over to “talk about Furman”—but she also hoped to introduce us. Everyone knew it was a setup except Price, who missed the point entirely, was friendly and charming to all, and did not get Annelise’s number (though he later wished he had). Instead, he rushed back to the U.S. Capitol to continue reporting on votes for speaker of the House until 2 am. After running into each other a few times through friends and at church over the course of the following year, we both showed up to a friend’s Epiphany-meets-Mardi Gras party on January 27, 2024, each hoping to talk to the other. (The gathering was formal attire only—Price wore a tie with Chinese takeout boxes on it.) Our conversation went so well that Price asked Annelise out after church the next day. The next weekend, we hung out for three hours straight over cappuccinos and scones at Maman in Georgetown—comparing our high school cross country experiences and adventures as young Christians in DC and raving about our favorite books and our shared love of the Blue Ridge Mountains. After 10 dates in 17 days—including Annelise’s first 17-mile bike ride—we “defined the relationship” over a Chick-Fil-A lunch after touring the Old Post Office Tower and meandering through the National Portrait Gallery. It only took a couple months to realize that God was doing something new and different in our lives, and we hoped and prayed that he was preparing us for marriage. As the year went on, we enjoyed more adventures and experiences together—walks in the National Arboretum, Saturday morning bike rides, dinner dates at DC restaurants, home-cooked meals and Nate Bargatze comedy specials, family vacations. And as we came to know each other more deeply, our conversations—about God, marriage, work, whether the Jack of diamonds should count as negative 10 points when playing Hearts—became both more serious and more joyful, sources of assurance and spurs to growth. On November 11, Price proposed on Mount Hamilton in the National Arboretum azalea gardens—a delightful surprise for Annelise, made all the more epic by a bald eagle swooping overhead moments later! We are so grateful to God for the gift of each other—and for the gift of each of you! We are honored to have you join us at the celebration of our marriage, and we invite your prayers on our behalf as we begin a life together.
