Watch the sunset while enjoying a drink on the pier. Across the street there is ice cream, coffee, pizza, cafes and restaurants. Arrive early as it may be busy.
Take a stroll downtown to shop at little surf shops, clothing boutiques, antique stores and much more! Good eats along the walk would be HH Cottons (American), Avila’s El Ranchitos (Mexican), Nicks (Steak), South Coast Swell (hand dipped ice cream), and much more!
We recommend setting up near or around a lifeguard tower. San Clemente State Beach at the Califia Parking Lot is probably the closest you can park to the beach. You do have to pay for parking at the pay machines. Other beaches we recommend for surfing but are slightly out of the way about 10 minutes are Surf Beach and Doheny State Beach. Tressels is one of the best surfing locations in the world and is located close to San Clemente State Beach but it is very difficult to get to because you can not drive in with a vehicle. We recommend finding a lifeguard tower and asking the lifeguard about the water conditions and they can tell you if there are rip currents present and where the safest spot is to swim.
