Shelter Island is just a quick 5-minute ferry ride away — with service running every 5–10 minutes from both the north and south. The North Ferry departs from Greenport (conveniently reached by LIRR or Jitney), and the South Ferry departs from North Haven, a short drive from downtown Sag Harbor. Ferries carry both passengers and cars, making the trip fast and simple. Fares are ~$3 per passenger and ~$15 per car.
Take the Long Island Rail Road or The Hampton Jitney/Ambassador Bus to Greenport. They both drop you off at the entrance to the North Ferry to Shelter Island!
Fly into EWR, JFK, LGA, or ISP. We recommend renting a car, or you can take the Long Island Rail Road or the Jitney/Ambassador Bus to Greenport.
Please note that there are no Uber/Lyft services or car rentals on Shelter Island. Guests can get around using local taxis or driving a car with them directly onto the ferry.
