International travel to Istanbul:
Arrive at Istanbul International Airport (IST)
Direct flights via Turkish Airlines from the US
There is a smaller domestic airport on the Asian side (Sabiha Gokcen SAW) that you can fly into if you are coming from within Turkey or some other European locations
There is UBER in Istanbul however there are local taxis that are more reliable. You will need local currency and most of these drivers do not speak English. Many times, the hotel can arrange transport for you to and from the airport, which is what we recommend.
Where to Stay:
There are many hotels in Istanbul that accommodate all budgets, hence we do not have a room block. The European side is where the Old City is (and a lot of the tourist attractions). But keep in mind that travel distances in Istanbul are far with lots of traffic - it can take over an hour to cross between the Asian and European side. The boat departs from the European side so we suggest staying closer to here.
