Following in the timeless tradition of millennial romance, Mairead messaged Amro on Bumble in October, 2019, complimenting a picture of a jade plant. For our first date, we got coffees from the old Starbucks (Rest in Peace) on Charles Street, and spent the afternoon walking along the Charles River.

For Mairead's birthday on January 1, 2023, Amro planned a weekend trip to Mass MOCA in North Adams. On New Year's Eve, we went to Bennington, Vermont, to see the iconic covered bridges. The weekend started off with a brief panic for Amro, when he realized he had forgotten the memory card for his camera, and so we took a romantic detour to the Bennington Walmart Supercenter to get a card. Over at the Henry Bridge, Amro set up his camera to film us looking out over the water. Nothing seemed unusual about this, since he always has his camera set up, until Mairead turned to look at him and he was getting down on one knee.
