In 2015, Amila had just moved to LA from Boston for his internship at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory and Phoebe was drowning in school work at Otis College of Art and Design. Having no connections in LA, Amila reached out to Emil, his friend all the way back from his high school days in Hawai'i and was invited to go to an open mic night with their art school friends. It was love at first sight as Phoebe ran down the halls late to meet up with Emil and Amila after he had braved to cross LA rush hour traffic at 6PM on a Friday. After a wonderful night out, Amila had to figure out how he'd convince Phoebe to see him again, so he invited them to the only thing he knew they wouldn't say no to, the SMAP launch from Vandenberg AFB. And of course, they said yes. The rest was history, involving camping, national parks, cross country road trips, and so many more adventures.
