How He Asked

October 14, 2017

It was October 14, 2017 in the mountains of Georgia. The two went on a hike to Preacher's Rock just outside of Blue Ridge, GA. Once near the top, Marshall surprised Amalee when he got down on one knee in the middle of taking a picture. Ellison, Amalee's sister, was there to capture every moment of the proposal. Afterwards, they returned to the cabin Amalee's parents were staying at and were greeted by not only Amalee's family, but also Marshall's family (which was another surprise!). Later that evening they all celebrated together over dinner downtown.

Our Story

According to him, Marshall first noticed me one Sunday at the church we both attend in fall 2015. However, it wasn't until a shag dance party at a friends house that we met. A little while after that Marshall was so excited to ask me to be his date for an upcoming Spring formal. Unfortunately, I was not on the same page. (attempt one). Later that year, both of us spent the summer on a Leadership Project through our college ministry, Campus Outreach, and got to know each other a lot better. It was a great chance for the both of us to see how the other pursued a relationship with Christ. After that summer Marshall decided to give it another go and ask me out for a second time. But, again I said no (attempt two...yes I know I'm terrible). As the next school year started we remained distant friends. However, as the year progressed I thought a lot about Marshall and was continuously encouraged by his pursuit for Christ and persistency in wanting to get to know me better. I finally let go of my fears and when he asked me out a third time in December I said yes!! (third time's the charm! hehe). We went on a few dates and on January 14, 2017 officially started dating! Since then the Lord has really blessed me in getting to see just how truly amazing Marshall is. He loves the the Lord more than he loves me. He is patient, kind and thinks well for me. He also always opens the car door for me! :) He is by no means perfect, but he strives to walk in line with the things of the Lord knowing that there is so much joy to be found in Him. That is what is most important! I love him so much and I can't wait for April 22 when I can finally be his wife and partner in furthering the Lord's kingdom.
