We met in high school when I was a becoming sophomore and Sawyer was becoming a junior. At that time, we had some mutual friends that would get together and play volleyball at a neighborhood sand court. He messaged me on Facebook afterwards one night, and we haven't been able to leave each other alone since!
We had dinner reservations at Eddie V's early that evening. Sawyer was slowly sipping his wine, which was not unusual because he doesn't drink wine, but I was ready to go! He kept mentioning getting drinks afterwards, so I caved and we made our way to Chimy's. On the way over, I checked on our dogs, where I noticed his brother and sister-in-law were in our house. Since they hadn't really seen the house yet, and his brother needed a lawnmower, Sawyer was easily able to play that off! We had one drink at Chimy's and I tried to invite some friends to meet us - which he quickly shut down and insisted that we needed to go home. When we got home, he immediately went to let the dogs outside, which is typical after a night out. I took my shoes off and when I looked up, the entire window was lit up and I rushed outside. As I opened the door, my best friend and Sawyer were on the ground trying to pick up the letters that said "MARRY ME" that had blown over due to the wind. Even thought I might have ruined the surprise a little, it was still the best night of our lives and one that we will never forget.
