If you're not from the Vancouver/Vancouver Island area...

Tofino can be reached by car or by very small plane (connecting flight via Vancouver or Victoria). Since Cox Bay Beach is about 8 km from Tofino, and there are lots of beautiful walks and places to explore in the area, a car might be useful. Note that if you fly into Vancouver, you'll need to book a ferry to Vancouver Island in order to get to Tofino. This costs about $100 - $150 CAD, and reservations are important! You will have to wait for hours if you show up to the ferry terminal without a reservation. There are two ferry terminals in Vancouver, but the quickest way to Tofino is via Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo (Departure Bay); total time to Tofino ~ 5 hours. Long Beach Lodge Resort

We and our families will be staying at Long Beach Lodge. It is a wonderful resort, right on the beach, with easy surf rentals, gorgeous views, and great food. We will likely have a celebratory dinner in their great room over the weekend.

Pacific Sands is also located on Cox Bay Beach. It hosts a series of apartment-style suits and gets great reviews.

Surf Grove Campground

Surf Grove is an excellent, less expensive alternative to the local resorts. The campsites are just off of Cox Bay Beach with easy beach access, surf rentals, and parking for guests.

Chesterman Beach Bed and Breakfast

Chesterman Beach B&B is a small bed and breakfast located on Cox Bay's neighbouring beach. It gets very good reviews and is a 2.5 km walk or drive from Long Beach Lodge.
