Our story begins, as all great love stories do… at Sluggers Bar in Wrigleyville. It was a sunny Saturday afternoon in April 2019, and though the Cubs had just taken a loss, the spirit in Wrigleyville was still going strong. In true post-game fashion, Nina and her best friends (now bridesmaids—Elaine, Meagan, and Maggie), popped into Sluggers for a drink and batting cages. As fate would have it, Alec had also stopped in after the game to meet up with his longtime buddy (now Best Man), Jack. Jack wasn’t alone—standing beside him was his coworker and friend, Nina. With a grin, Jack made the intro: “Alec, meet Nina.” They didn’t know it then, but that moment marked the first inning of their own unforgettable story. What started as a quick hello turned into hours of effortless conversation—and a competitive game of Pop-A-Shot basketball. The chaos of the bar faded as Alec and Nina discovered more in common than either expected. That night became the first of many shared moments, all tracing back to one lucky afternoon in Wrigleyville. Even though the Cubs lost that day, we still won. And the rest, well… that’s the story we’re here to celebrate.
