Alec and Angelica matched on Bumble, and after a few days of chatting, decided to meet up for brunch at The Green Turtle. When Angelica first saw Alec's truck with a big American flag waving out the back, she immediately thought "oh no." But to her surprise, the date went great. He was a lot cuter in person, and the conversation kept flowing. As the date was wrapping up, Angelica decided she wanted to invite Alec to her dinner plans at Sushi King with her friends, and Alec agreed. But what were they going to do to fill in all that time? It was barely noon. While deciding what to do to kill time, Alec also decided to offer up the invitation for Angelica to go fishing with his friends that night. The plans for the day kept stacking up. So to kill the next many hours before dinner, they went to Walmart to prepare for the fishing trip. Alec looked through all the fishing supplies, and Angelica got to look through their gardening area and buy a few new pots for her collection at home. It still wasn't dinner time, so they needed to think of something else to do. Angelica regrettably suggested going to play mini-golf. It started off with Angelica taking a strong lead, but to her dismay, in the back-nine, Alec came swooping in with a strong victory. To this day, it's a sour topic to bring up. Finally, it was time for dinner. Alec got to meet some of Angelica's friends, including Madi, one of her bridesmaids! Sushi was ordered, and everyone was having a great time. Alec was excited to tell her friends about the night fishing trip we were going on after dinner. And as good friends are, they were worried about a new guy taking their friend out into the middle of the woods at night with who knows what tools he has in his truck. But off they went to Chickahominy, Alec's favorite fishing spot. It was Angelica's turn to meet some of his friends and after a short hike in the dark woods with all their gear, they made it to the shore and set up for the night. Bonfire, music, drinks, and good times were had. The highlight of the evening started when a conversation about line dancing and two-stepping came up, and one of Alec's friends offered to teach the two how to two-step. They walked over to the sand and fumbled over the instruction. Just as they were starting to get the hang of it, Angelica tripped over a piece of scattered driftwood. As if it was a movie, Alec caught her, and in the embrace, they shared their first kiss. It was such a memorable moment for them, that Alec staged his proposal there a year and a half later, in the presence of his Best Man, Dakota. A few hours after midnight, the group was getting tired and decided to pack up and head home. Unfortunately, this was over an hour drive back to Angelica's house. Once they arrived, Angelica invited Alec to stay at her house since it was already nearing sunrise. The next morning, the two decided to finalize their first date with one more brunch at Venture Kitchen, and since then, the two have been inseparable.
