“I first remember meeting her in sixth grade, and she was super cute. I had a crush on her, but it seemed pretty clear to me that she thought I was just, in her words, ‘that weird sword drawing kid.’ Then, as we got to high school, it seemed like she went from thinking I was weird to just thinking I was dumb. I’d honestly given up all hope that she might even remotely want to spend any time around me. Later, beyond high school, I found myself still crushing on her, so I finally took a shot. It turned out that I was just weird enough to intrigue her, and our relationship just grew from there. It’s been fun getting to grow together and learn about each other — can’t wait to do this for the rest of our lives!”

“I think it was maybe the end of the 5th grade, and I remember being told ‘Hey Arianna, Gabe likes you!’ — but I had no idea who he was. When 6th grade came around, we ended up in almost every single class together. I’m pretty sure teachers intentionally sat us next to each other. Yes, he was always drawing swords (he was obsessed with the movie 300). Anyway, everyone kept telling us to date that year. I did like him — a lot. I thought he was funny and smart, but I was too scared to ever really admit anything. Over the next few years, we were on and off distant friends at best. Sometime later, after high school, we got back in contact and the rest is history. He’s just as witty as I remember him. He definitely knows how to make me smile.”
