It's hard to choose our favorite beaches as there are so many beautiful locations, but here are some of our top choices. You will have to drive to most beaches but they are worth it! Esperanza Beach/Pier - Walkable from Esperanza with a pier to walk down and jump off! Good snorkeling under the pier. Sun Bay - 2 min drive from Esperanza. Drive down the sand road for ~1/2 mile for a great spot with clear, flat waters! La Chiva - In the nature reserve. Has cabanas on the beach Carracas - Also in the nature reserve with cabanas. One of the nicer, closer beaches to get to in the reserve. Pata Prieta - Very secluded, quiet beach in the nature reserve. Black Sand Beach - A short drive down the road from the Blue Horizon. Entrance located on the road opens for a short hike to a cool, unique beach that lives up to its name!
Plenty of beautiful reefs that contain hundreds of fish, rays, sea turtles, and maybe the occasional shark or barracuda. You can rent snorkel equipment from Fun Brothers Hut which is right on the Esperanza strip: https://www.funbrothers-vieques.com/ Check out these locations for some of the best snorkeling on the island: Punta Arenas Esperanza Pier Mosquito Pier Carracas Beach
A highly recommended experience! It is one of the few bio-luminescent bays in the world. Any movement activates the light emitted from these living organisms. Best seen when nights are at their darkest - and January 11th, 2024 happens to be a new moon! You can book a kayak tour to access the bay. https://abessnorkeling.com/ https://jakwatersports.com/
El Fortin Conde de Mirasol was built between 1845 and 1855. “El Fortin” (The fort) is the best place on the island to learn about the island’s history.
