Yes! Beach Party: We will not have transportation to the beach party. It is a 2 minute drive from the Malecon in Esperanza, and about a 10 minute walk for anyone feeling active! We will have a meeting point in Esperanza prior to the beach party for anyone that wants to car pool or follow over to the beach! Wedding: We will have transportation to and from the wedding. A taxi will meet to pick up anyone needing transportation on the Malecon in Esperanza and bring you to the Blue Horizon. There will be one van leaving at 11pm, and a second leaving at 1am to drop off in Esperanza or different hotel locations. There is plenty of parking at the Blue Horizon if you want to leave your mode of transportation there for the night and take the taxi home.
Good question! Vieques is not your typical Caribbean island. Some would describe the island as rustic, and simple. There are wild horses that may outnumber the people at this point, roaming around the roads and beaches. The roads are a little bumpy so get ready if you are in a golf cart. The island has a casual and easy going vibe. We hope that you love it just as much as we do!
The average temperatures for Vieques in January is 79° - 85°F, with the water clocking in at around 79°F. It is one of the least rainy months - recording less than 3in of rainfall, on average. And don't worry - it's the Caribbean! If it does rain, it may only last a few minutes!
There are a small number of taxis on the island for hire, though we highly recommend renting a vehicle. There are jeeps, cars, golf carts, and mopeds for rent. There is no public transport!
From locally sourced and fresh caught foods, to comfort meals you would get at home, there are tons of options on the island! There are a huge variety of restaurant’s all over the island that you can visit. You’re sure to pass lots of food trucks selling a variety of fresh foods - like empanadas, tacos, churrasco, mofongo, pinchos, etc. A cheap, quick, and delicious option!
There are beaches all over the island, most will require a short drive so make sure to book your rentals. Check out our list of favorite beaches in “Things To Do”. And don’t hesitate to contact us or Ben for more hidden gems! For anyone staying in Esperanza, you have Esperanza Beach within walking distance!
Yes, the water is drinkable! Bring a water bottle to stay nice and hydrated.
