The space itself was absolutely beautiful - stately and elegant, providing the perfect setting for our intimate ceremony and dinner. Our guests raved about the intimate ceremony space and the lovely dinner area, which allowed for great conversation throughout the evening. As the bride, I wish there had been a private space for me to get ready and wait before the ceremony, as the guests were able to see me beforehand. Honestly, we really just showed up and they made the magic happen. Their team is patient, organized, funny, and incredibly supportive. Awarded Best of Zola
The Woman’s Club of Evanston was the perfect venue for our June wedding! After an extensive venue search, we were so excited to find the Woman’s Club. The venue checked every box we had - close enough to the city for us and our friends and close enough to the suburbs for our family. The venue is also located right between a reasonably-priced parking garage and a lovely Hilton, which accommodated anyone flying or driving into our celebration. Our vendors also raved about the ease of working in that space, from the vendor parking lot to loading areas to elevators. The venue manager, Gretchen, was the best! She is an excellent communicator and answered all our questions promptly, and was on top of all the tasks that needed to be completed. The BYOB policy of the venue also helped us save some money on our beverages. The list of preferred caterers was great and we found someone that was the perfect fit for our fusion wedding. The venue itself is so beautiful. As soon as I walked in, I knew it was just right for us. The first floor is so warm and welcoming, and was perfect for our photos and for the cocktail hour. The second floor ballroom is grand and had such a wow factor. We were able to keep our decorations to a minimum because the venue itself is gorgeous. The space has so much natural light. We used the gardens outside for our first look, which made for some lovely photos. There’s nowhere else I would rather have gotten married!

I recently attended a wedding at Dresden Castle for a close friend, and having been looped into much of the planning, I can confidently say the venue and its team exceeded expectations. The space itself is breathtaking—historic architecture, stained glass, and vaulted ceilings that give the entire event a sense of timeless elegance. It’s rare to find a venue that feels both grand and intimate, but Dresden Castle strikes that balance beautifully. The garden area was especially memorable for photos and quiet moments between the ceremony and reception. From what I observed and heard throughout the planning process, Jason and Alex were outstanding partners. They were responsive, organized, and genuinely invested in making the day seamless. Their flexibility with vendors, clear communication, and calm presence during setup made a huge difference. They anticipated needs before they became issues and handled last-minute adjustments with grace. The amenities were modern and well-maintained—sound system, WiFi, private rooms for the wedding party, and a layout that flowed naturally from ceremony to celebration. The staff were professional and courteous, and the bartenders kept everything moving smoothly without ever feeling rushed. As a guest, I was impressed. As someone who saw the behind-the-scenes effort, I was even more so. Dresden Castle is a gem for couples who want a venue that’s visually stunning, logistically sound, and run by people who truly care.

Colvin House is an extraordinary wedding venue featuring an inviting glamorous interior, large outdoor reception areas, beautiful gardens, beach access & unforgettable views of Lake Michigan. Designed in 1909 by visionary Prairie School architect, George W Maher, the mansion is a historic landmark and was a private residence before its current life as an events venue & coworking space. We pride ourselves on fostering inclusivity & we strive to reduce wedding waste by having almost everything needed onsite while also allowing couples vendor flexibility. Previous residents added details reflecting the styles of grand movie theaters and the glamorous neoclassical revival flair of the 1920’s and 1930’s, giving the house a relaxed but unified mix of architectural styles. From the majestic crystal chandelier escorting you down the grand staircase to the marble fireplaces, we invite you to imagine the house is yours for the day as you invite family and friends in to celebrate your union.

Why you'll love this venue

  • All-inclusive venue packages
  • Historic touches
  • Provides a dedicated team on-site

Venue considerations

  • No on-premises lodging options
We were drawn to Colvin House because of the mansion's historic details, but believe it truly shines when paired with the talents of Pyrite Sun, their in-house planning, catering, rentals, and floral team. We met with Sarah (Colvin's Events Manager/Owner of Pyrite Sun) to tour the space and ended up hiring Pyrite Sun for our entire wedding at Colvin House. Not only was it convenient to have everything under one roof, but we had a personalized wedding experience like no other–complete with vintage furniture, plates, and coupes, the most incredible floral from Colvin's gardens, and a customized food menu that our guests still rave about. I also love that Sarah recommends great vendors they've worked with and happily coordinates whatever you need with any other vendors you'd like to hire, as well. Overall, an incredibly special experience you won't find anywhere else. Thank you, Colvin House and Pyrite Sun, for making our vintage glamour wedding dreams come true!

We had bowling during cocktail hour which our guests loved. The food was incredible and they did a great job managing our cake, decor, and everything we dropped off. The whole staff was so easy to work with and all of the meetings went so smooth.
