I was 8 when my mother signed me up for a cake decorating class. It was a life-changing experience. I knew what I wanted to be! Determined to attend the Culinary Institute of America, I convinced restauranteurs in the Rochester, NY, area to give me a chance and started baking "professionally" at 15. Five years later I did it! I graduated from the Culinary Institute of America as a pastry chef. In 1999, Gourmet Goodies was established in Victor, NY. Over the past 20 years I have had the privilege of providing wedding cakes and gourmet pastries to the upstate and western New York area.

I have always had a love for cooking and baking but allowed fear of the unknown stop me from pursuing my dreams of selling my cakes and was told at one time that I would never be able to start my own business selling. I have pushed past the negative people and thoughts that say I cannot and have made Butter Bundts by Mattie a reality...with the support of my husband of course! My specialty is Custom Bundt cakes, as you can see by my photos, I do more! Baking is like creating art but way more delicious!

I took my first cake decorating class in 1999. I absolutely fell in love with cake decorating from day one and, over 20 years later, find myself just as passionate about decorating as I was in that first class. In 2015, I reached one of my biggest goals as a cake decorator, and proudly have my own commercial kitchen. I have made hundreds of wedding and specialty cakes through the years. The Cake Shop, is a Cake Studio that offers Wedding cakes, Custom cakes, and a small variety of bite sized treats. Everything is made from scratch in house and with localey sourced ingredients when possible. The Cake Shop is not a retail bakery. We are by appointment only. Owner Trisha is a formally trained interior designer turned self-taught cake artist. Her passion began after her own wedding to her husband, Travis, in 2009. After spending hours searching for a cake design for her own wedding, Trisha felt inspired by this delicious art form. Trisha decorated her first cake for fun and her new obsession began…Sugar & Slice creations tap into Trisha’s formal training as an interior designer and center on clean lines, elegant textures, and color. We are always looking for a new challenge and are continually investing in new training and technology to keep up with or stay ahead of currents trends.
