We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful place to celebrate our wedding. The entire property is absolutely stunning, from the ceremony site to the reception space. It’s a truly picturesque setting that made for the most beautiful photos and an unforgettable atmosphere. The day-of staff were friendly, helpful, and made sure everything ran seamlessly. The food was delicious, and so many of our guests complimented the meal. We had a wonderful experience and an incredibly beautiful day, and we’re so happy we chose this venue for our wedding. Just note that it’s not inexpensive, so be prepared for the investment, but the setting and experience are hard to beat.

The Ruins at Sassafras Museum

5.0

New Lebanon, NY
  • Up to 250 guests
  • Raw space
  • Indoor & outdoor
  • Starts at $15,000

The Ruins at Sassafras Museum is the home of the former Shaker Second Family on Mount Lebanon. (See our reviews on Google.) We call ourselves a boutique museum because unlike other Shaker Museums that replicate the past, we have interpreted the past and creatively restored each location on the property. You can have your ceremony in the ruins of an English garden, the stone foundation of a barn alongside a meandering creek, or under a willow tree overlooking our pond. Enjoy cocktails on the terrace of our Moroccan Bar or Stone House as the sunsets over the Taconic Mountains. Choose from eight unique sites to customize your wedding day. We can host 18 guests in our luxury accommodations and only 15 minutes away are many hotels and inns.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Flexible event spaces
  • Multiple event spaces
  • Bridal suite on site

Venue considerations

  • No in-house lighting and sound packages available
  • No free parking
  • No venue-provided food services
The Ruins at Sassafrass Choosing The Ruins at Sassafrass as our wedding venue was a decision that exceeded our wildest dreams. I could write pages about all the amazing things that this venue boasts, but I will highlight the points that future brides should understand when they go to book The Ruins. Being a DIY bride, the Ruins at Sassafrass provided the enchanting backdrop to bring my Pinterest board dreams to life. The rustic charm and natural beauty of the venue complemented my vision perfectly, creating a magical setting for our special day. The flexibility of the space allowed me to add personal touches, turning it into a unique and unforgettable experience. Even in late October the landscape of the mountains in the distance were breathtaking; our guests are still talking about how mesmerizing the views were. What makes our wedding story even more special is that we chose The Ruins before it was even finished. It was a leap of faith based on the vision and promises from Carol, the owner. When we did our initial tour, the venue was still in its beginning stages of completion; even then we were captivated by the potential and the unique charm it promised. What sealed the deal for us, however, was Carol's infectious enthusiasm, passion, and stylistic eye. Her vision and commitment assured us that the venue would be the perfect location for our special day, and it absolutely was! Being part of the journey from the early stages allowed us to witness the Ruins’ transformation, and it added an extra layer of excitement to our wedding planning. Despite the venue's newness and the inevitable growing pains, Carol, Lara (the on site coordinator), Jerome (Carol’s partner in life and business), and the rest of the team made sure our decision to trust them from the beginning was more than worthwhile. Being a newer venue, Carol and the team were still in the process of ironing out a few kinks. Despite some last minute hiccups, what truly stood out was Carol, Jerome, and Lara’s commitment to addressing these challenges in real-time. Their proactive approach and dedication to ensuring our day was perfect more than made up for any set backs in the planning process. This was a HUGE relief when planning such a momentous event. On our actual wedding day, when challenges arose with our day-of coordinator (that we hired separately and was not affiliated with The Ruins), Lara stepped in as our saving grace. Her quick thinking, attention to detail, and unwavering professionalism turned what could have been a stressful situation into a seamless and unforgettable celebration. Her ability to coordinate with our vendors and recalibrate the timeline on the spot showcased her experience and dedication. Without Lara's intervention, the day could have taken a different turn, and we are immensely grateful for her expertise and her willingness to step up and save the day. Her creative touch also helped transform the venue into a dreamlike setting, exceeding our expectations. Lara's dedication and experience truly showcased the exceptional team at The Ruins at Sassafrass, if you get the chance you should ABSOLUTELY hire Lara to help plan your event. The Ruins at Sassafrass, with its evolving charm and an outstanding team led by Carol, Jerome and Lara, made our wedding day an absolute masterpiece. We are forever grateful for their passion, dedication, and the magical memories they helped us create.

Gloriosa & Co.at the Curtis House

5.0

Ashfield, MA
  • Up to 140 guests
  • All-inclusive
  • Indoor & outdoor
  • Starts at $18,600

We plan, arrange, and cater events—weddings, bat and bar mitzvahs, showers, reunions, small gatherings, memorial services or anything you can think of, indoors or outdoors. We host events here at the Curtis House, our 1850s Dutch Colonial. The summer home of George William Curtis, then the editor of Harpers Weekly. It’s a charming, sprawling old house that abuts the town green. During warmer months events take place in our gardens and the fully restored late 19th century barn. Whatever you imagine for your event, we're here to help you realize your dreams. We'll help you every step of the way, from planning and budgeting to coordinating the day. We open our home to you and take away all the stress of planning your dream day. We want to make your day about who you are.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Unique barn setting
  • Exudes old-world charm
  • Has a relaxed and casual vibe

Venue considerations

  • Does not allow pets
  • Not wheelchair accessible
  • Not for you if you prefer a more modern aesthetic
I cannot speak highly enough about our experience hosting our wedding at The Curtis House by Gloriosa & Co. My husband and I got married a couple of weeks ago (September 2024) and our wedding was truly one the happiest, best days of our lives thanks to the love and personalization that Gloria and Emma put into planning and executing our day. We were drawn to so many things about the venue, including the charming setting of Ashfield, the rustic but modernized aesthetic of the barn, the beautiful gardens and greenhouse, and the house being an available space to get ready. We were also drawn to the convenience and uniqueness of being able to provide our floral arrangements from Gloria’s greenhouse and gardens on-site, and having all of the food and beverages taken care of through the venue’s catering and bar team. But what made us decide to book this venue for our special day was the attention that Gloria and Emma give each couple. This venue is not your typical wedding factory that puts on weddings multiple times a week, every week of the year; Gloria and Emma host between 12-15 weddings per year and consequently each couple they work with gets full access to the venue the weekend of their wedding and so much guidance during the planning process. We were able to cultivate a vegetarian menu consisting of so many of our favorite foods plus a number of signature dishes of the venue, such as a butternut squash galette that was a crowd favorite. Sustainability is also incredibly important to us as a couple, and Gloria and Emma are committed to sourcing only local, seasonal ingredients for the food and florals and minimizing waste, which meant so much to us. In terms of decor and furnishings, the venue has so much available for couples to use, such as tables, chairs, ceremony benches, several wedding arches to choose from, displays for food or guest favors, tableware, candles, string lights, and more. We did not have to rent or coordinate anything other than the few DIY projects we made, which Gloria and Emma effortlessly integrated into the set up for us. Being able to take care of practically everything through Gloria and Emma made planning so much simpler. On the wedding day, Gloria, Emma, and their team handled the venue set up in a few hours, which happened like a choreographed dance that required practically no work from us or our wedding parties other than providing input and approval along the way. Everything went extremely smoothly and we were able to be fully present. After our ceremony, my husband and I returned to the house, where Gloria had set up champagne and a spread of our hors d'oeuvres for us to enjoy over a few minutes of privacy, which is something she had recommended we do as we took in the moment together. Our guests have had nothing but positive things to say about our wedding and it was clear the day of how much fun everyone had. We have received so many compliments about how beautiful and authentic the venue was, how exquisite Gloria’s floral arrangements were, how delicious all of the food was (even the heavy meat-eaters loved the vegetarian menu), and how this will be a wedding they will always remember. Gloria made us feel like part of her family and we were so happy to be able to support her business. We truly could not have asked for a more memorable, personalized, loving, and beautiful wedding, and hope that many other couples have the pleasure of getting married at this special place.

They made the weekend about as stress-free as we could have hoped - even despite the tornado warning on Saturday! Our guests had an amazing time from start to finish, and would not have been possible without lots of help. From putting together table arrangements, setting up campfires on 3 consecutive nights, making sure everyone got to their cabins and were settled in, having food prepared for 100 guests from Friday-Sunday, guiding hikes, coordinating all the vendors, supervising beer olympics, etc etc etc -- THANK YOU!!!!!!!

From the moment we stepped foot into The Hermitage Inn, we knew we had found the perfect venue for our wedding. The quality of the Inn’s service and the vendors they recommended turned into a simply stunning outcome - the venue's ambiance was truly transformative, elevating our special day to a magical, luxurious yet timeless experience. If there were any glitches on the day of the wedding, my husband, family and I didn't notice them, as the team executed everything flawlessly. The food was outstanding, and our guests are still raving. The people who work at The Hermitage Inn are so friendly and detail-oriented - we would choose this venue again in a heartbeat. In fact, all of our family and friends are still reaching out saying how much fun they had at our wedding and calling it the best wedding they’ve ever been to. The planner Gina is exceptional. Her responsiveness and experience allowed her to be on top of every detail. I had some pre-wedding vendor glitches and she was supportive and offered solutions which all turned out well. Gina and her assistant were extremely responsive and knowledgeable throughout the entire planning process. Special shout out to our favorite bartender Amanda and server Kristen - we love you! The custom drinks are outstanding and the options for gourmet dishes that change seasonally are amazing and allowed us to build a beautiful menu for both the wedding and rehearsal dinner in the wine cellar. The Hermitage Inn exceeded all of our expectations and made our special day truly unforgettable. From beginning to end, our experience at Farm Road Estate was absolute perfection. Even the planning process was enjoyable thanks to Kelly and her incredible team, who went above and beyond every step of the way. From setting up Guitar Hero in the speakeasy for our welcome party, to making sure our grandmas walked down the aisle smoothly, to making sure we were always fed during every little gap of the day—the attention to detail and genuine care were unmatched. The venue itself is breathtaking, and every guest couldn’t stop raving about how comfortable the rooms and bedding were. And the food… wow. I had friends telling me they literally licked their plates (politely, of course). Everything was phenomenal. It truly felt like we had all our loved ones together for the most beautiful sleepaway weekend, eating, drinking, laughing, and celebrating. We wish we could go back and relive it all over again. Hearing people talk about our wedding gives us the chance to do just that, and it fills our hearts every single time. To Kelly, Mike (the Guitar Hero master), Lauren, Giselle, Chef Joe, Theresa, Steven, Meg, and every single staff member who worked tirelessly to make our weekend so special. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We will cherish these memories forever. If you’re on the fence about having your wedding here, do it. You will not regret it.

We feel so lucky to have found the West Mountain Inn for our wedding. We first visited about a year before our wedding and immediately felt like it would be the perfect place for our special day. We were greeted by the resident golden retrievers, who followed us on our tour. If you’re a dog lover, you’ll be very happy with this venue! But really, it was Amie, Mary Beth and the rest of the staff who sold us. We immediately felt like they cared about making your day as perfect as possible for us, which was very welcome after touring other venues which felt like they wanted to squeeze every penny from us. After we decided on the venue, Amie was so willing to work with people like us who wanted to plan every detail possible. Amie answered all of my questions and sent additional information like floor plans so I could plan who was assigned to each room as soon as possible. Her communication over email was so incredible helpful! We absolutely loved that we could have so many guests staying at the inn and knew that would be perfect for our winter wedding. Next came our tasting, which was such a fun event. There are two tastings a year, both in March (though I think you could have a private tasting if you need). We loved being able to stay at the inn for a night and meet all of the other couples getting married here within the year. As our wedding was in February, we had to wait a long time between the tasting and trying the food again, and it absolutely didn’t disappoint! Chef Jeff did an amazing job with our welcome party, breakfast and lunch the day of the wedding, the absolutely amazing wedding dinner (and late night snacks), and brunch the next morning! We heard that most couples have a hard time eating during their weddings, but we cleaned our plates! Definitely try the butternut squash ravioli, it is incredible! We had our ceremony in the barn, then moved to the bar in the inn for cocktail hour, then dinner in the dining room, and dancing in the living room. They take out the big pieces of living room furniture and move some chairs to the side for dancing. A lot of my family was skeptical about that, but the inn knows what they’re doing!! The dance floor was plenty big for our party of 60 (and I’m sure it could have accommodate larger groups), and the chairs on the sides were a huge hit! It was incredible to be able to sit down for a minute and still feel like you’re a part of the party. I know a lot of our guests enjoyed that as well. We got ready in the Norman Rockwell suite, which worked out well since we had a small bridal party. We also loved getting to see all the rooms in the inn - every room is thought out so well and has little details that are so fun to find! We thought the inn was what made our wedding weekend so magical and cannot wait to visit again on anniversaries or other special occasions. Thank you so much to the entire team - we are so grateful to you!

We had our wedding at Vanderbilt Lakeside at the end of August and could not have imagined a better experience. From start to finish, working with Henrietta and Matt was truly seamless. Henrietta was responsive, organized, transparent, and made the planning process genuinely enjoyable. She also had many vendor recommendations that were incredibly helpful in bringing everything together. The venue is stunning and so versatile. We had 50 guests and highly recommend renting a tent for the deck if you're doing dinner outside. It really elevates the space and the flow of the reception. Our ceremony was in the yard, dinner on the deck, and dancing in the bar room, and it all flowed perfectly. The staff was amazing and made us feel like VIPs all night. Our guests couldn't stop raving about the food, the service, and the beauty of the venue. We loved staying on-site with our dog while family and friends stayed in downtown Hudson, and we arranged a shuttle for easy transportation. Setup and cleanup were a breeze, thanks not only to the Vanderbilt Lakeside staff but also to our wedding coordinator, which made the whole experience even smoother. We loved every minute and couldn't recommend Vanderbilt Lakeside enough. I almost wish I could keep it a secret because of how special it felt. It was worth every penny, and was truly the perfect place for us to celebrate.

Working at the Wilburton Inn providing florals for their couples is a joy! The staff is so helpful and caring about performing their positions with perfection. This includes Meesha, in charge of helping the couples with their planning and helping to coordinate their wedding weekend, and so much more, to Tajlei and Melissa, who are owners and Innkeepers, hands on and involved. The chef and his kitchen staff, the wait staff/bartending staff, the ground keepers/gardeners, the handy man who is also part of the staff that does all the wedding set up. I may have missed a department, but, the bottom line is when working there, one feels like family. A family whose sole objective is to give 100% to every wedding, every event. The grounds are so naturally beautiful and the Inn has a personality of it's own that you will not find anywhere else! There is such an open mindedness and open hearted approach to everything. ALL are welcome, including your dogs! I highly recommend The Wilburton Inn! Nancy and Team

When we first booked Glen Sanders, someone told my mother that Glen Sanders runs like a well-oiled wedding machine. They were spot on. Glen Sanders knows weddings. Every vendor was thrilled to hear we were working with them. They made the entire process so easy, so clear. Maki, our bridal attendant, was INCREDIBLE. She greeted us off the bus with our champagne flutes, made sure I was hydrated all during photos, helped me with my dress, and brought me down my sneakers at the reception, among many other things. Glen Sanders also sets up all of your cocktail hour Hors d'œuvres in a separate room for you to eat before going to your reception, and it was the moment my husband and I needed to catch our breath and feel "present" for the rest of the night. People often say their wedding was a blur, but we remember every detail thanks to that moment to pause. As for the venue itself, all of our guests still talk about how great of a setup it was. We got ready on-site (groomsmen downstairs, bridesmaids upstairs, MOG got her hair done in the salon downstairs), our cocktail hour outside and on the enclosed porch, the reception in the ballroom, our after party in the basement bar (Speak-easy vibes!), and then we stayed up with close friends and siblings around the fire until the early hours before going to sleep in our rooms on-site! Glen Sanders is certainly a one-stop shop for everything, and their product is unparalleled. Thank you, GSM team, for the best night of our lives! -Elaina and Bill
