So he (or she) was down on one knee it seems like less than five minutes ago. With all the emotions, excitement and phone calls, the next few days can feel like a whirlwind in the best possible way.
After all the necessary congratulations, you’ll find that everyone in your life, for better or worse, has a question (or 50). When is the wedding? Where are you getting married? Do you know what kind of dress you want? Who is in your wedding party? Is my daughter your flower girl? Where are you registering?
It’s easy to just nod along and respond with, “it’s only been half an hour Grandma! I’m still in shock!” as most of the questions above require careful planning and other considerations. But one of the first steps you should take as a newly engaged couple is to start the registry.
Once the news hits social media, loved ones, family and friends all want to share in your celebration and start buying you gifts. So why not make sure the gifts you receive are gifts you actually want?
You’ve been on the other side, too. Your best friend from growing up gets engaged and even though you live 2000 miles away from each other, you still want to be part of the fun. So what do you do? You send a gift.
Now that the ball is in your court, make sure you’re getting what you want and need by registering early. Trust us, this way is much better than a daunting stack of returns.
Since we want your registry to be a fun (and easy!) part of your wedding planning, we’ve made a registry checklist to help you jumpstart the process. While you’re at it, check out our handy planner to make sure you’re registering for enough gifts for everyone to get you. If only life could always be this good.
