How We Met

As most of you know, Nic and I both work in healthcare. We were both working at Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL when we met. Nic was training in the ICU as a nurse at the time and I was working in the ICU as a second year internal medicine resident. We shared a mutual patient and got to know each other during that month. Nic added me on Facebook and eventually asked me to go out with him and some friends. It turned out to essentially be our first date. The rest is history!

Our Engagement Story

My best friend (and maid of honor) Ashley told me she was planning on coming to Chattanooga one weekend and we had plans to meet her at one of our favorite bars downtown, Whiskey Thief. Nic suggested we take a sunset walk on the Walnut Street bridge prior to meeting Ashley. As we were strolling down the bridge, we saw this acoustic band that plays on the bridge on weekends that we both love. We also ran into one of our friends who is a photographer. Despite these two clues, I still had no idea what was about to happen. As we were walking, we stopped to take some photos. Nic then started telling me how much he loved me and I noticed the band was walking up to us playing one of my favorite songs, "Speechless" by Dan and Shay. He then got down on one knee and asked me to spend forever with him. I said "Yes!" Nic had arranged for all of our friends and family to be at the bar Whiskey Thief that overlooks the Walnut Street Bridge. We got to celebrate afterwards with all of our people. It was a perfect day and Nic exceeded all of my expectations.

Our COVID Micro-wedding

As you all know by now, our original wedding was set for October 24, 2020. Due to the pandemic, we knew we had to postpone our original wedding plans to protect the safety of our guests. We are both healthcare workers and continued to work on the front lines during the pandemic. It was important to us to still get married on our original date with only family in attendance. Emily's mother helped plan a beautiful, intimate ceremony at her lake house on Wattsbar Lake. We are now looking forward to the future and being able to celebrate with all of friends and family together! Thank you all for your patience with us during the past year. We cannot wait to see all of you in October!
