How We Met

May 24, 2015

Logan and I met as summer staff members at Tall Timbers Campground in Forest Hill, Louisiana in 2015. I was in school at the University of Mississippi, and Logan had just graduated from Glenmora High School with plans to attend Louisiana Technical College in order to get his welding certification. After summer, while pursuing our future careers, Logan and I remained good friends, getting together whenever I was home from Oxford. Between the shopping and fishing trips, we became better and better friends. The next summer, Cari Beth, having graduated from Ole Miss, was again serving on summer staff at Tall Timbers, and I was still in school at LTC. As our friendship grew, having spent even further time together, I began to consider the possibility of something more. After prayerful consideration, I (finally) built up courage to ask her to be my girlfriend on July 18, 2016 at the top of the hill at Tall Timbers. Cari Beth (obviously) said yes!

How He Asked

June 1, 2018

After weeks of planning I finally had a good opportunity to talk to Mr Marc. Thankfully he said yes and told me I had his blessing and that made my day. I short time after that I had the ring, and boy I couldn't wait to give it to her. The evening was finally here. She thought we were going to celebrate her graduation. While we were having dinner, she realized she'd forgotten to wear jewelry, but little did she know that was going to change! After our meal, we stopped for coffee and we hit the road to enjoy an evening of star gazing. As we pulled in Tall Timbers she was confused. I told her I had to pick something up from our friend David. (Shout out to Tyler and David for helping with the best surprise ever!) She asked were he was and, of course, made jokes about having to walk all the way there in heels, but luckily she was easy to convince. We walked towards a beautiful view of the lake, but a mailbox was the center of my attention. I asked her if she knew why it was there, and why the flag was up on it? I opened it, grabbed the envelope with her name on it, and said it's for you! I read to her a poem I had written, then asked if there was something else in the mailbox. I reached in and grabbed the ring. As I got down on my knee, she realized what was happening. I asked her to marry me, and she just froze. She couldn't believe it! She asked "Are you serious?!" After a long pause I said "well?" And she said "I mean, yes!" That was the happiest moment of my life thus far. I got up, kissed her, and hugged her. It was just a great time to be alive. Her last surprise was coffee cup that says "You've mermaid my day" (which most of you know she loves mermaids so it was perfect and definitely true) We left and drove to Indian creek to enjoy our evening of star gazing. We spent the next hour talking and praying together. It was a truly a wonderful night, and nothing could have ruined it...Not even the bugs that made us come home early.
