We are so happy you’re here. We’re getting married in Luang Prabang, Laos, and we would love for you to join us for a very special few days together. Our wedding will take place on April 20, 2026, with celebrations and shared moments planned from April 19–21. Luang Prabang is a place we love deeply, and we hope you’ll take this opportunity to turn the journey into a broader adventure across Southeast Asia.
Luang Prabang entered our lives quietly. Aleks first arrived here in 2024, during a longer journey through Southeast Asia. It was not meant to be a defining stop, yet something about this place stayed with her. A sense of calm. A gentler rhythm. A feeling of being held. When we travelled through Asia together, Aleks wanted Dennis to experience what had lingered from that first visit. During that journey, he surprised her with an evening at Rosewood Luang Prabang. Time loosened its grip. Something shifted, and it stayed with us long after we left. Luang Prabang has a way of creating space. Conversations deepen. Distractions fade. There is a quiet spiritual presence shaped by nature, ceremony, and continuity. When we spoke about where we wanted to get married, this place returned naturally. Luang Prabang honours beginnings and transitions with intention rather than spectacle. Beginning our marriage here feels organic, as if this place was already part of the story we were writing together. Something we felt long before we could explain it. We hope that, while you are here with us, you will feel some of that magic too.
6:00 pm - 10:30 pm
In the evening, we’ll gather for our welcome dinner at Manda de Laos, one of the most iconic and romantic settings in Luang Prabang. The restaurant is built around three UNESCO-recognised lily ponds that have been protected heritage sites since 1995. These ponds have belonged to the same local family for generations, and the name Manda means “mother” in Lao, a tribute to family, tradition, and home-style Lao cooking. As night falls, the ponds glow softly with candlelight and lotus blossoms, creating a setting that feels timeless, intimate, and uniquely Luang Prabang. This dinner is our way of saying welcome, a gentle beginning to a few special days together.
1:15 pm - 1:45 pm
To keep the afternoon calm and seamless, we’ll arrange shared transportation for our guests. Vans will collect everyone from their hotels and bring you to Rosewood Luang Prabang together, so we can all arrive at the same time and ease into the ceremony without rush or logistics to worry about.
2:30 pm - 3:45 pm
Our wedding day begins with a traditional Lao Baci ceremony, a deeply meaningful ritual rooted in Buddhist and animist traditions. The ceremony centres around blessings for health, harmony, prosperity, and a long life together. It begins with a short, joyful traditional parade, where the groom and friends walk together with music to symbolically ask for the bride’s hand. From there, everyone proceeds to the ceremony space. During the Baci, respected local elders offer blessings through chants and songs. White cotton strings are gently tied around the wrists of the couple and guests as symbols of protection, good fortune, and unity. Guests are invited to take part, making this a shared and deeply special experience. The ceremony takes place outdoors, surrounded by nature, one of the most authentic and beautiful traditions in Laos, and a meaningful way to begin our marriage.
3:45 pm - 4:45 pm
After the Baci ceremony, guests are invited to enjoy a relaxed cocktail hour in the gardens with light refreshments and drinks. During this time, we’ll briefly step away to change and refresh before the next part of the celebration. Think of this as a natural pause, a moment to breathe, chat, and enjoy the setting as the light begins to soften.
5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
As the day drifts into golden hour, we’ll continue with a Western-style procession and personal vows. This part of the ceremony takes place just before sunset, when the gardens and waterfall are at their most magical. We’ll exchange vows in an intimate setting, surrounded by nature and those closest to us, with music and soft evening light guiding the moment.
6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
7:00 pm - 9:30 pm
Following the ceremony, we’ll gather for a Lao family-style dinner served at long tables beside the waterfall. The menu will showcase traditional Lao flavours designed for sharing, encouraging conversation and togetherness. Throughout dinner, we’ll enjoy traditional Lao music and dance, a cultural and celebratory touch that brings the evening gently to life.
9:30 pm - 11:00 pm
For those who’d like to continue the evening, we’ll gather at Elephant Bridge Bar, a relaxed spot overlooking the water and surrounding greenery. This is a place to raise a glass, trade stories, and linger under the stars with the soft sound of water nearby. It’s not a loud party, but a cozy, atmospheric space, the perfect way to wind down the wedding day in true Luang Prabang style.
Tue, Apr 21, 2026, 6:00 am - Wed, Apr 22, 2026, 6:15 am
For early risers, we’ll have the option to take part in alms giving, a centuries-old daily ritual in Luang Prabang. At dawn, monks walk silently through the streets as locals offer small portions of sticky rice as a sign of respect, generosity, and mindfulness. It’s a quiet, humbling experience, and a beautiful way to witness the spiritual rhythm of the city.
6:30 am - 7:30 am
After alms giving, we’ll wander through the morning market, where locals shop for fresh produce, herbs, and breakfast foods. We’ll stop for a simple local breakfast and coffee. This is everyday Luang Prabang at its most real, before the city fully wakes up.
8:00 am - 9:00 am
Later in the morning, we’ll take a gentle walk up Mount Phousi, a small hill in the heart of Luang Prabang. The climb is short and unhurried, and the views from the top offer a panoramic look over the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers, well worth the steps and a good excuse for a second coffee later.
5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
In the late afternoon, we’ll take a sunset boat cruise on the Mekong River, one of the most peaceful and scenic ways to experience Luang Prabang. As the light softens and the sky changes colour, the river reflects the moment, calm, expansive, and quietly unforgettable.
7:30 pm - 11:45 pm
To close our time together in Luang Prabang, we’ll gather for an intimate dinner and a little party at Little Laos Culture Bar, a place known for its soulful atmosphere, local flavours, and deep connection to Lao culture. Set in a beautifully restored space, it’s the perfect setting for a relaxed final evening, sharing food, conversation, and reflections after a few meaningful days together.
Flight
Luang Prabang International Airport (LPQ) is small and easy to navigate. While there are no direct flights from Europe / Middle East, the journey is straightforward with one or two connections. Most guests will arrive via one of the following hubs, all of which have direct flights to Luang Prabang: • Bangkok (BKK or DMK) Frequent daily flights and the most flexible option. • Hanoi (HAN) A good option if you plan to spend time in Vietnam. • Siem Reap (SAI) Ideal if combining the trip with Cambodia. From Europe / Middle East, the most common route is Europe / Middle East → Bangkok → Luang Prabang.
Travel Note
Most nationalities can obtain a visa on arrival or apply for an e-visa for Laos. Should you opt for a visa on arrival, we recommend bringing USD in cash, as card payments are not available. While local currency may also be accepted, ATMs are located only in the arrivals area, so you would need to exit and re-enter if you do not have USD. Please ensure your passport is valid for at least six months. Visa requirements can change, so please check the latest information for your nationality closer to travel.
Travel Note
Luang Prabang is a small and charming town, and the historic old town is very walkable. If you are staying within or near the old town, you can easily explore on foot, strolling between cafés, temples, and the riverfront. If you stay a little further out, or simply notice the tropical heat catching up with you, getting around by car is easy and inexpensive. We recommend downloading the LOCA app, which works like Uber, Bolt, or Grab and is widely used in Luang Prabang. It is reliable, affordable, and the simplest way to move around town. We also suggest buying a local SIM card at the airport upon arrival. This is quick, affordable, and gives you fast internet access for maps, ride bookings, and messaging. For wedding events, transportation will be arranged where needed, so you won’t have to worry about getting to or from the celebrations.

The main wedding events take place from Sunday, April 19 to Tuesday, April 21, 2026, with the wedding ceremony on Monday, April 20. If your schedule allows, we recommend arriving by Saturday, April 18, or even earlier, and staying a little longer to enjoy Luang Prabang or explore the region. This is very much a “turn it into a trip” kind of destination.
Mid-April coincides with New Year celebrations across Southeast Asia, which can affect travel plans. In 2026, the key dates are: • Thailand (Songkran): April 13–15 • Laos (Pi Mai Lao): April 13–16 • Cambodia (Chaul Chnam Thmey): April 13–15 These festivals are joyful and culturally important, but they can also mean crowded airports, booked-out hotels, and in Bangkok especially, lively water celebrations where getting soaking wet is very much part of the experience. Some people love it, others prefer to avoid it. Our wedding events take place after the festivals, from April 19–21, when Luang Prabang has returned to its calm, everyday rhythm. If you plan to travel through Thailand, Laos, or Cambodia beforehand, we recommend booking flights and accommodation early and keeping these dates in mind when planning your route.
We highly recommend it. Some guests choose to combine Luang Prabang with: • Bangkok for food, culture, and energy • Cambodia, especially Angkor Wat in Siem Reap • Vietnam, for cities, coast, or countryside These routes are well connected by short flights and make the journey feel even more rewarding.
Visa requirements depend on your nationality. Many passport holders can obtain a visa on arrival or apply for an e-visa for Laos in advance. Your passport should be valid for at least six months beyond your date of entry. Rules can change, so we recommend checking the latest visa requirements for your nationality a little closer to travel and allowing extra time at the airport just in case.
Please have a look at the Accommodation section of the website, where we’ve shared a curated list of places we recommend, from luxury stays to more budget-friendly options.
April is warm and sunny in Luang Prabang, with daytime temperatures usually around 30–35°C (86–95°F). Evenings are pleasant, and most places are open-air. Light, breathable clothing is ideal. Rain is uncommon at this time of year.
Yes. The old town is very walkable, and distances are short. For longer trips, we recommend using LOCA, a local ride-hailing app similar to Uber or Grab. It’s reliable, affordable, and easy to use. We also suggest buying a local SIM card at the airport, which makes navigation, ride bookings, and staying connected much easier.
Yes. On the wedding day, we will arrange shared transfers to bring guests from their hotels to Rosewood and back afterward, so no one needs to worry about logistics.
Think elegant, light, and comfortable. Breathable fabrics are best. The wedding will be outdoors, surrounded by nature. There is no strict dress code. Just dress nicely and comfortably for warm weather.
Luang Prabang is warm and relaxed, so we recommend light, breathable clothing, comfortable walking shoes, and something a little dressier for the wedding day. Evenings are pleasant, but it’s still tropical. A few practical extras: • Sun protection (hat, sunscreen) • Insect repellent • A light layer for early mornings or air-conditioned spaces Temples are an important part of daily life here, so modest clothing (covered shoulders and knees) is appreciated when visiting religious sites.
Absolutely. While we’ve planned a few shared moments, there is plenty of free time built in. Join what feels right, skip what doesn’t, and explore at your own pace.
If you have dietary restrictions or allergies, please let us know when you RSVP or send us a message. We’ll do our best to accommodate everyone and make sure you’re well fed and happy.
Yes. We’ll be in Laos before the wedding events begin, and if you’re arriving early and would like to spend some time together, we’d love that. Just let us know when you’ll be around and we can plan something relaxed and informal.
Having you with us in Luang Prabang is the greatest gift we could ask for. Please know that your presence is more than enough, and we don’t expect any gifts or have a registry.
