  • Poor service at a beautiful venue

I’m deeply disheartened to share my experience with White Willow Meadows (WWM), owned by Angela Norm, during my wedding on September 2, 2024. Despite this being a beautiful venue (which is the only reason there are 2 stars), here’s a rundown of the issues we faced: 1. Inappropriate Behavior: One of my guests overheard a highly inappropriate comment from our day-of coordinator, Elizabeth Robinette, about a women's confidence in wearing her dress. This brought concern that she was talking about one of my guests, one of my bridesmaids, or even more heartbreaking - me as the bride. When confronted, she denied it, which was unacceptable and a lie as she and the other WWM staff member had no material that they were looking at a previous wedding. Professionalism is crucial in this industry, and such remarks are completely out of line. 2. Substandard Coordination: Elizabeth's disinterest in going beyond the minimum was frustrating and added unnecessary stress to our big day. In the days leading up to our wedding, I seemingly needed to convince her that in her position as day of coordinator she should be helping with certain kinds of tasks. 3. Poor Audio Quality: Despite assurances of a state-of-the-art sound system, the audio was dreadful. Key speeches, including those of the maid of honor, best man, and even myself, were barely audible. We were also unable to hear anything the DJ was saying, which made things difficult and stressful because we were on a tight timeline. The DJ’s attempts to schedule a sound check were ignored, leading to many moments being lost. 4. Bartending Service Issues: We were told we could choose our own licensed bartender but were later forced to use one from a company, resulting in subpar service and a widely negative impact on our event. 5. Planning Process Troubles: From the start, the planning was fraught with issues. Angela Norm was unprepared for our first meeting by not properly notating our meeting date and time resulting in double-booking our time and showing a lack of organization. The limited availability of staff made scheduling difficult, and even payment processes were a hassle. 6. Miscommunication and Stress: The day after our wedding, we were asked if we were checking out of the Dairy Barn despite our contract specifying that we had occupancy for both the wedding night and the following night. This miscommunication added unnecessary stress to what should have been a joyful time. Given the significant amount we spent, the level of service fell far short of what was promised. I would strongly advise others to reconsider before booking with WWM. My husband and I will never get this day back and I hope this feedback serves as a warning to engaged couples and encourages WWM to reevaluate their approach to client service. A wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime event, and while this building is very beautiful, no couple should have to endure such disappointing service.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry your experience at White Willow Meadows did not meet expectations, and we appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns. 1. Inappropriate Behavior Claim: The comment you referenced is based on hearsay. While we were not present for this conversation, we know our team and are confident it did not happen. Even if such a comment had been made, it would sound more like a compliment, recognizing someone’s confidence in their appearance. Our staff always maintains professionalism and treats guests with the utmost respect. 2. Substandard Coordination: The issue you mentioned was related to managing hundreds of guests across three doorways while photos were being taken in the main room. Our coordinator recommended closing the sliding barn doors, which are specifically designed to manage guest movement in such situations, but this suggestion was declined. Without closing the doors, it became challenging to control the flow of guests, though our coordinator did their best within the guidelines provided. 3. Audio Quality Issues with DJ: White Willow Meadows requires DJs working at our venue for the first time to conduct a site visit to familiarize themselves with our setup and ensure the event runs smoothly. Unfortunately, your DJ chose not to schedule this visit and confirmed they never reached out to us before the event. Additionally, the DJ used their own microphones and failed to balance inputs within our system, a step typically covered during the site visit. We hosted weddings the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday before your Monday event, as well as the following Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, without any sound issues. These problems likely stemmed from the DJ’s lack of preparation. 4. Bartending Service: To ensure safety and responsible alcohol service, we require bartenders to be licensed, insured, and part of a professional bartending company. This policy helps prevent over-serving and ensures high safety standards. We do not permit individuals to obtain a one-time license for a single event, as they often lack the experience needed to manage alcohol safely. You selected the bartending service, and any issues should be addressed directly with the company. 5. Planning Process Troubles: We apologize for the double-booking during your initial venue tour, which was an isolated incident. Over the hundreds of tours we’ve conducted, such errors are extremely rare. Since then, you’ve had at least three formal planning meetings, our standard process, and we had off-hour meetings to suit your schedule. Additionally, we offer flexible payment options, including by phone, in person, or by check. Payments are spread out to reduce financial stress. Angela is available 24/7 via phone or text to assist with any concerns, and we regret that issues were not raised sooner. 6. Miscommunication Regarding Occupancy: The issue with the Dairy Barn was an innocent oversight. Since your wedding occurred on a Monday, a rare occurrence, the cleaning crew arrived on Tuesday to clean the Main Barn and were unaware that the Dairy Barn was still in use. We apologize for this misunderstanding and any stress it may have caused. We take pride in ensuring that each wedding is special and are truly sorry this experience did not meet your expectations. We value your feedback and would be happy to discuss these matters further if you’d like to connect with us directly.
